little too much choreography for me, but if I can watch it I will. I was slighty hoping for an opera-ish thing, cause I thought that'd be cool, but this was ok too.

I reckon it would do much better as a movie. And use the actual songs as the soundtrack, it seems to lose it's impact when you have other people singing the songs.

As a movie, using the actors from their videos, that would have been the correct route, methinks.

They decided their time was better spent in Blink 182, and they were correct.

The utter lack of talent in this musical is what's bringing it down. If it was an indie-like film (like in the videos used for the singles on the album) and used the same basic story line (because it is a concept album), they would have hit the nail on the head. Instead I had to sit through this worthless waste of life.

This is just a huge middle finger to the standard of classical musicals, its gna have one of those sub par storylines that don't make sense and degrade the poor actors nvolved.

no one should be singing the songs other than green day. I thought they were going to put it together like have the actors act out the play and green day is playing the songs on the side of the stage. way different than what I expected and because of the bad "choir" singing....."choir" we listening to this crap? lol

I'm a fan from the old days and new. But his is just bad. It's impossible to say AI was a bad album. It wasn't pure punk, but it was undoubtedly gonna go down as one of the best records in history. However, this musical business is crap crapity crap crap. I'm starting to lose my faith in them (especially with 21st)

The issue may not seem as relevant, but just beacause bush is no longer president shouldn't mean anything. If you use that logic, then a lot of the hippie songs from the 60's mean nothing. The viet nam war has been over for 45 years, but they still mean something. American idiot may someday serve as inspiration for people who may feel the same way towards a feature president/figure of authority. Hopefully they improve upon a good idea. Hopefully everbody understands the idea I had, it doesn't always translate from thought, to words as it should lol.

Ah, 90's punk... Billy singing about being stoned or whacking off, Dexter from the Offspring who always sang off key live, the drummer from Rancid that looked so drunk he could barely stay on his stool when I saw him live... but at least the songs were endless fun, and that's why we loved Green Day

Now I don't give a flying f*ck about punk credibility or endless debate of whether punk bands should be allowed to shoot videos, wear makeup, play solos and all that sh*t, but once the music starts to suck I'm out. I don't really like the new Offspring stuff compared to their earlier albums, but at least they're trying to make the effort of producing something pure and unique. Green Day on the other hand sounds so dull, poppy and uninspired nowadays it's infuriating

wow. they lost the whole point of the album with the dancing.

does anybody agree with me that the new album was just weird. It wasn't just bad, it was like "what?" all of these like piano ballad kinda things, a bit overproduced, backup vocals overdone, and weird vocals from billy joe. I mean, american eulogy is such a cool song along with see the light, but everything else is just mediocre. they kinda reused some melodies from american idiot i felt even. it wasnt trying to be new musically, it was just cashing in on the past. i had a chance to see them over the summer but didnt wanna go.

And this just proves that they've lost the touch they once were famous for... And The dude in the trailer kinda killed it for me... But I like the choir-type concept ^_^

Ok, the first album i ever bought with my own money back in the day was dookie. green day has been my favorite band since i was young. but now, i look at the band and have only disgust. they have sold out, BIG TIME. first this 21st Century Ear Stab and now this crap. and after American Idiot came out, i heard the rumor about green day working on a motion picture based on the CD i was excited.
the cd was actually good, i mean who could make a rock/punk opera and be taken seriously? But it is to this day one of my favorite albums. but honestly... this looks like trash, no other way to put it, i mean just scuz covered dumpster space. i am so let down at by this

Because if there's two things that rock-based musicals are, they're:
a) not fun at all, and
b) absolutely demanded by society.
