Green Day have released the video for "Oh Love", the lead single from the band's forthcoming "¡Uno!" album.
"Oh Love" is directed by Samuel Bayer, who has collaborated with Green Day on several videos over the past 8 years, going back to the "American Idiot" single and album.
Green Day will release their trilogy of new albums – "¡Uno!", "¡Dos!", and "¡Tré!" - on September 25th, 2012; November 13th, 2012, and January 15th, 2013, respectively.
"What I really wanted to do was write real power-pop kind of music that had that old Green Day energy," frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told Billboard recently, "so the original Green Day sound became '¡Uno!'"
"The first record is getting the party started, the second record is the party happening and the depths of hell in the party, and the third one is trying to pick up the pieces, self-reflection and the hangover," added Armstrong.
I'm not lol ! I like hot girls as much as the next guy, which in this case is probably you It's just that the love of which Billie speaks doesn't seem to fit, that's all. However, I like the video.
Who actually makes MTV versions of music videos any more? I thought everything was all Vevo now. MTV has about as much legitimacy as American Idol now.
I love Green Day with a passion, but two things to mention:
-The video is nothing special.. just random shots of sexy girls and the band in a room. It works though.
-They put James White in the video to play the solo... at this point he should really be an official part of the band. It makes me think he recorded that part on the record; Green Day should just come out and say they are a four piece!
If I recall correctly, they invited him to be an official member of the band around "Warning" and he refused the invitation. I guess the guy just likes it that way
And I believe the story goes they aske him awhile back to become an official 4th but he declined because he thought they should stay a 3 piece officially as that's how they'd been since the begining.
But he is also in another band with Billie Joe where he does vocals and plays guitar (as does Billie). It's an awesome punk rock band that sounds a LOT like early Green Day. Some good old power chord punk with a solo here and there. Check em out: "Pinhead Gunpowder". The song "Landlords" is probably my favorite, and they've done it normal and acoustic, both versions are cool. "At Your Funeral" is also a great song
I've been a big Green day fan since 1998 and I like the song but the video is just plane dumb. Sure, the girls are hot but they act like they're in a Britney Spears video.
I can't imagine what Bayer was thinking. It's just so generic and uncreative.
My first thought was "Sweet Child O' Mine" when I saw the video. A bunch of model chicks and a band playing in a rehearsal space. Then I thought of how the "Once Bitten Twice Shy" video was that same thing again for Great White. I'm sure we could come up with tons of examples of how this isn't the most original video in the world.
Again, though, I'm not complaining about attractive gals wearing not a whole lot. } : - ) >
was this supposed to be hot too or just dumb? i cant think of a hotter start than two chicks opening their mouths at each other and the camera of course, we dont see that much often...
I hate to be a crazy fanboy but yeah, Jason IS an official member. If you get a chance to look inside the Oh Love single he is clearly credited as their Guitar player.
He gets credit for his work, just like any studio musicians that play on recordings do, but I'm not sure if he actually contributes to the writing process in Green Day (he does in Pinhead Gunpowder), and he doesn't do media stuff (interviews, photoshoots, etc) with them so they keep the 3 piece appearence.
