Joe Satriani: New Video Podcasts

Legendary guitarist Joe Satriani has posted the third and fourth in a series of weekly video podcasts from his European tour. Check them out at this location.

Satriani released his 13th solo album "Professor Satchafunkilus And The Musterion Of Rock" on April 1.

"Professor Satchafunkilus" was produced through the creative envisioning of Satriani and John Cuniberti; guiding the musical talents of longtime drummer/percussionist Jeff Campitelli and renowned bassist Matt Bissonette. A special addition to the album's artist list is Joe's own son, ZZ Satriani, playing the tenor sax.

Last year marked the 20th anniversary of his groundbreaking album "Surfing with the Alien" and was commemorated with new expanded edition in a meticulously restored two-disc set including the newly remastered album and a never-before-seen live show filmed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1988.

Thanks for the report to Blabbermouth.net.

Besides being bald, is it just me or does Satch have one of those faces that just doesn't age?

Love this new album.

I saw him last week at Hammersmith Apollo and he was simply amazing, so was Paul Gilbert as support. Satch rules!

Can I just echo the obvious and awesomeness, by saying Satch N Gilbert were f**king incredible at Bristol on the 17th.

Didn't know bout these podcasts sadly, so i'll check them out tomorrow

I can't believe he's 41. He looks like he's in his late thirties or early forties.

I'm not really keen on Satriani's music, it has no weight to it, in a musical sense. Don't get me wrong, he's one of the most technically efficient guitar players in the, but his music lacks substance; you can't exactly dance to Surfing With the Alien, as opposed to Twist and Shout.

there are thousands of songs wich you can't dance to. that doesn't mean it's less good then the rest.
i find those instrumental songs amazing to listen to.
you can create a lot of emotion without lyrics

He hasn't been with Bissonette since G3 2005. Since then it has been Dave LaRue and for this tour it was supposed to be Brad Russell on bass but he had to pull out for personal reasons so Stu Hamm has stepped in.

Well Brad Russell stepped out for personal reasons and because of schedualing conflicts also I should add.

Hey,I noticed back in May SurfinWithSatch wrote about me(Brad Russell) thanks for mentioning me,but your info is not entirely accurate.I never "pulled out" of any tour.
