Korn Singer Interviewed At Edgefest

Korn frontman Jonathan Davis was interviewed by the Fort Worth, Texas radio station KDGE The Edge 102.1 FM prior to the band's May 9, 2009 performance at the Edgefest at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas. Watch the chat at this location.

Korn has been working on material for a new album with the band's original producer Ross Robinson. Davis told The Pulse of Radio that the group intends to get back to the sound of its early CDs. "It's gonna be very raw, it's gonna be old school like the first Korn records," he said. "Basically, it's gonna be recorded as a four-piece band, with just Munky on guitars and Fieldy [bass] and Ray [Luzier; drums] and me. We really want to go back to that old-school vibe. It was just really intense and emotional and, you know, I have a lot of built-up aggression toward certain things that I need to get out for this record."

Davis said that many of the lyrics on the upcoming album will deal with the topic of organized religion.

The band will be looking for a home for the yet-to-be-titled disc since completing its two-album deal with Virgin Records in 2007.

I seriously resent that comment. I mean Brian has awesome stuff and its christian.

Thats funny on the last post about head everyone it sais his music sucked. Also I hate when bands say theyre making a record like thier debut. Thats impossible, I think bands say that to build hype.

Aren't Edgefest and 102.1 FM The Edge both located in Toronto? I think they may have their information wrong on this article since the frequency, name of the festival, and name of the radio station are ALL Toronto's really crappy nu-metal and new rock station

I've been a Korn fan since I first heard Adidas when it came out all those years ago, I've been trying really hard to like the newest few albums, they seem to be gradually getting worse and worse, Untitled was probably one of the worst albums I've ever brought, apparently the songs are good live but the cd is just utter crap, seemed completely rushed and with no feeling, just making songs for the sake of it.

With that being said I hope they find the spark again, make a Korn V2.0, if this fails then they should really just retire, or J.D could go back to movie soundtracks like Queen of the Damned, that was awesome

Why do people always think that some band belongs to them? Let them do what they want. If KoRn is still playing and creating music as KoRn, let it be. This is why I believe fans need to butt out when it comes to the music and whether a band continues or not. It like trying to split up two friends you don't even know.

The edge is a generic radio station name used all over the US and Canada, and edgefest is a generic concert name, again, used all over the US and Canada.

This is the thing... Korn's first album! Great!, Life Is Peachy also great! Follow The Leader better than great!! Issues Pretty good, Untouchables good good, Take A Look On The Mirror, good (Kind of a return to their roots), See You On The Other Side... bad... really bad, Untitled... ... ... ... I'm sorry I was a huge Korn fan but they've lost it! No Head, no David... I really hope this new album is gonna bring back Korn but i don't think so. I'll listen to their new album tho!

Im afraid i agree with the main point in this threa that Korn are never gonna be the band they were "bak in the day". Its just not posssible without Head and David. I loved Korn back then when i was a mixed up teenager but now the "pent up anger" and "return to the roots" sounbites just dont wash. Ive heard them for how many albums?? Sorry Jon, Munky & Fieldy but give it up before you become a parody of yourselves. Breaks my heart to say that..

Korn was good until See you on the other side, them they started to get a little boring. everything after that is just crap. I'll definatly give this one a listen though:P
