Linkin Park: New Song Available For Streaming

For the past few weeks, message boards on music and film sites across the internet have been abuzz with anticipation as fans count down to today’s worldwide radio premiere of "New Divide" (watch the trailer on ug.TV), the theme song written and recorded by Linkin Park for Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, director Michael Bay’s hotly anticipated summer blockbuster. And thanks to iTunes’ special Monday sales promotion, fans that tune in to hear the song won’t have to wait to score their very own copy.

In addition, today at 3:45 PM EST, the band (vocalists Chester Bennington and Shinoda, drummer Rob Bourdon, guitarist Brad Delson, DJ Joe Hahn and bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell) is offering fans "New Divide" as a free stream for a limited time only. It can be heard at Linkinpark.com. Fans can also view a trailer of Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, interspersed with footage of the band in the recording studio working on "New Divide". In addition to writing and recording "New Divide", Linkin Park is also contributing to the film’s score with award-winning composer Steve Jablonsky (Transformers, Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and the score’s executive producer, Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer.

Last week Linkin Park shot a video for "New Divide" directed by Hahn. Hahn’s directorial credits include such award-winning videos as Linkin Park’s "In The End" (2002’s VMA "Video of the Year" winner) and "Somewhere I Belong" (2003’s VMA "Best Rock Video" winner), as well as music clips for Xzibit, Story Of The Year and Alkaline Trio. His recent work includes videos for the top ten hits "Bleed It Out," "What I’ve Done" and "Shadow Of The Day" (2008 VMA "Best Rock Video" winner), all three from the band’s 2007 release, Minutes To Midnight (Machine Shop Recordings/Warner Bros. Records), which sold more than 6 million copies worldwide.

Opening in theaters on June 24, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, starring Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro, will be Linkin Park’s second project with Bay. The first Transformers film, an Oscar-nominated hit from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures, featured "What I’ve Done," which rocketed to No. 1 on both Billboard’s Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks and Hot Modern Rock Tracks charts.

"New Divide" will also appear on the Warner Bros. Records soundtrack album, which arrives in stores on June 23.

it reminds me of what i've done too. which is kind of lame, since that was the song on the last transformers. not that i didn't like what i've done...i've enjoyed their newer stuff immensely. but this song just doesn't really do it for me.

Hybrid Theory Linkin Park was my favorite band of all time. I loved them, they got me into music. Then came motion man, and Reanimation was real cool too. Then came along Meteora. That was ok, I liked it still. But now I won't even buy their new album. What happened?

people r always slamming bands like linkin park or example because blah blah blah we want their old stuff. Well sometimes Bands just like to be creative and step in a different direction. The old stuff gets boring after a while then people say oh this is the same thing. No one can win...

I do my best not to hate and make fun of other genres of music or styles, but this new song has me worried that they are becoming just another emo band to be passed up. Personally i miss the style they had on the first two albums.

lmao. this is just terrible. absolutely awful. linkin park got me into music the same way blues clues got me into television. i mean i'm glad it happened, but i've moved on to better things, and i'm never, ever going back.

After listening to the entire song, it is rather disappointing. They used very cheesy synthesized instruments. It's actually a very boring song. The clip they have for show, is pretty much repeated the entire song, with no effort to vary it enough to catch the ear. Something like this could be written with loops in a matter of 30 minutes.

And Transformers 1 was good, but it was no where near the best movie. The fight clips are very messy in the first one, and they don't do a good job making sure the audience can follow the fights, which really brings down the quality of the movie overall, since half of us saw the movie for Megan Fox and the other half for giant fighting robots.

..no he doesnt have bad music taste, he's right lol.
dont get me wrong some of the tracks on minutes to midnight were okay, but no where near the same caliber as the first 3 albums, especially hybrid theory.
theres a reason the band became huge for years purely from their debut album and why people moan about the most recent album!
