A long-hidden George Harrison guitar solo from The Beatles' "Here Comes The Sun" has been discovered after 43 years.
It was originally cut from the song while the band recorded "Abbey Road", but has recently been found by his son Dhani Harrison.
You can hear the solo in the clip below, which shows Dhani in Abbey Road studio listening to the master tapes with producer George Martin and his son Giles.
In his autobiography, Harrison described more about the time he wrote the song which became one of the best known Beatles songs:
"'Here Comes the Sun' was written at the time when Apple [their record label] was getting like school, where we had to go and be businessmen: 'Sign this' and 'sign that'. Anyway, it seems as if winter in England goes on forever, by the time spring comes you really deserve it.
"So one day I decided I was going to sag off Apple and I went over to Eric Clapton's house. The relief of not having to go see all those dopey accountants was wonderful, and I walked around the garden with one of Eric's acoustic guitars and wrote 'Here Comes The Sun'."
"George was a magical guy. We'd sat down at the bottom of the garden, looking out at the sun shining," said Clapton. "It was a beautiful morning, and he started to sing the opening lines, 'Here Comes The Sun'. I watched it come to life."
Harrison was recently the subject of the documentary "Living In The Material World" which was directed by Oscar winning director Martin Scorsese.
Do UG readers wish the solo made the cut, or does it sound perfect already? Share your opinion in the comments.
This is my favorite Beatles song.
George Harrison is (with no doubt) my favorite Beatle, the most talented of them in my opinion... (because it's not so hard to be more talented than Ringo!)
This solo is nice, I understand why it didn't made it to the Abbey Road's edition, but still.
(Stupid request Is there anybody that can tab this little solo and post it here?
