have premiered the official video for their new single "Misery
." Watch front man Adam Levine
take a serious beating from his lady in the action-packed clip directed by Joseph Kahn
(Britney Spears, Blink 182, Muse).
Maroon 5's "Misery" video takes the "crazy ex-girlfriend
" stereotype to the extreme, as the band's dapper frontman Adam Levine is subjected to some serious forms of torture - from minor offenses like slaps and head-butts to downright life-threatening stunts like knife-throwing and hit-and-runs.
The bandmates are stabbed, shot, smacked around, set ablaze, blown up, tossed off buildings and run over by cars ... among other calamities. Needless to say, there were stuntmen involved.
"I did a lot of stuff, a lot of stuff is me!
" frontman Adam Levine insisted. "But most of it wasn't very dangerous. Although, by the end of the day, even not being hit by things is such a physical thing that I was really kind of beat up ... I was like, 'Man, even thinking I got my ass kicked feels like getting my ass kicked.'
Levine's woman, a Nicole Kidman
look-alike who shows no mercy, practically steals the spotlight from Levine in the video. "Misery" itself wins out in the end though.
