Mastodon are streaming "The Hunter" in full on their official website (via Metal Hammer), and it's already sounding like another masterpiece from the prog-metallers.
"The Hunter" is due on 27 September in the US on Roadrunner Records, and will include a special 3D "augmented reality" game as an extra incentive to buy the physical copy. And who wouldn't buy into the feature where you can put your own face on the album cover?
Buying options include a single CD, a CD/DVD set with music videos, and a direct-to-fans set with bonus tracks and a lenticular poster - and, of course, that wild augmented reality experience.

Second: Okay this isn't too bad. Maybe I was a little hard on their new direction.
Third on-> This isn't crack the skye but damn this is a good album!
I can't stop listening to it now. It's all of their best qualities (heavy songs like their first album, catchy rock songs like blood mountain, atmospheric melodies like crack the skye) but in a new direction. Instead of an overall concept, each song tells their own story. It's different for Mastodon, but this is a fantastic album.
By the way, the song names are far sillier than the songs themselves. Don't be discouraged.
