Media Updates: Switchfoot, Loser, Hoobastank, Ashley Parker Angel

San Diego alt-rockers Switchfoot released their fifth album Nothing is Sound in September 2005 with the debut single "Stars." The album was recorded almost entirely on the road in dressing rooms in between gigs, while the band performed over 400 shows in the last two-years selling over 1.5 million tickets. Switchfoot gear up for yet another tour in March 2006. The band will release their second single off of Nothing is Sound (certified gold), "We are One Tonight," February 2006. Riding the tidal wave of success from his hit show "There & Back," former O-Town star Ashley Parker Angel is set to release his debut solo album on Blackground/Universal Records. The premise of the television show, which chronicles the life of the fallen boy band star, centers around the redemption of Ashley's musical career and his ability to cope as a soon-to-be father. Fans of the reality show have already gotten a glimpse of Ashley's new brand of music and the anticipation of his new album is reflected in the program's ratings ("There & Back" has been #1 on MTV since its debut). The Adam Crossley Band is led by lead vocalist, pianist and songwriter, Adam Crossley. Comparisons for the band have already been made to Coldplay, Sting, and Toad the Wet Sprocket, but it truly has a distinct sound all to their own. LP's just insecure

I don't really like Switchfoot. Not because they're Christian, but because their lyrics are boring and their music feels like it's just there so that they have something to sing over. The guy's a good singer, though.
I do wish that Hoobastank would quit with the pop stuff. You can only get so soft with a name like Hoobastank :P

The new hoob song kind of gets better as you listen to it. It's just the intro that brings back bad memories of that one song that made them really popular that I don't want to ever listen to again .

I'm fairly certain that the album will be solid though. "The Reason" - (The album) was probably one of the few albums that I've owned where you don't skip over a whole bunch of songs just to listen to the ones that you like. It was a very solid album (excluding that one song ) and I expect the same quality from them on this one.

Markku (the bassist) is no longer a part of the band, which is kind of sad because I liked the songs that he wrote ("Did You" from the Spider Man 2 Soundtrack was one of them).

As long as they play "Pieces" at their concerts, I'll still go see them at every opportunity .
