Megadeth: New Album To Be Streamed In Its Entirety Today

Megadeth's new album, "Endgame", will be streamed in its entirety on the band's MySpace page starting later today (Thursday, September 10).

Due on September 15 via Roadrunner Records, "Endgame" was recorded at the band's brand new, self-built studio in San Marcos, California — Vic's Garage — which was named after the legendary and iconic Vic Rattlehead character.

"Endgame" track listing:

01. Dialectic Chaos
02. This Day We Fight!
03. 44 Minutes
04. 1,320'
05. Bite The Hand That Feeds
06. Bodies Left Behind
07. Endgame
08. The Hardest Part Of Letting Go... Sealed With A Kiss
09. Headcrusher
10. How the Story Ends
11. The Right To Go Insane

"Endgame" was helmed by Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine and British producer Andy Sneap (Exodus, Nevermore, Arch Enemy, Machine Head).

Megadeth filmed a video for the song "Headcrusher" on July 28 in the Los Angeles area. Mustaine previously described the clip — which will feature mixed martial arts — as "'Gladiator'-meets-UFC-meets-inside-of-Dave-Mustaine's-brain."

What?

I think it's their best albums since Countdown To Extinction, it's also their least commercial effort since Rust In Peace, so it is no where like Risk.

I'm really satisfied.

Already heard it. The only one I didn't like was This Day We Fight, but the rest is killer... and the "ballad" is better than A Tout Le Monde.

But This Day we Fight had such chunky riffing in it

Overall, I thought the album was pretty good. A few songs I could have lived without, but I'm picky.

It's pretty good, a lot better than the last album. Guitar work is much better, both musically and tone-wise. However, Dave's lyrics and singing in a few songs were very disappointing to me (to the point where I almost automatically skipped the song once I heard them).

Guitar Solos = A-
Drums & Bass = B+
Vocals & lyrics = F

I dont get how he does this. The vocals and lyrics are by far the worst ever. We know the guys not a mega singer but man, this is some stupid vocal lines and lyrics. I guess he doesnt have anything else to prove.

I listened the whole album and its disappointed me...
well i tought this stuff gonna sounds like a mixture of Killing, Peace Sells, So Far and Rust In Peace becosue Mustaine told that. Only songs Bodies, Endgame and Headcrusher have the feel of "Hey, thats old-school Megadeth" for me.
(sorry for bad english)

wow, not a very good album imo. no song, and i mean no song, seemed special at all. just a bunch of fast, random, meh sounding riffs.

Shredder666 wrote on 09/10/2009 - 06:02 pm / quote |
Definitely not as incredible as RIP so far...but this album has some great riffs and solos. Really the only criticisms are that they almost go overkill on all the soloing (which is debatable), and I personally don't like when Dave sings really low all the time. It makes him sound monotone sometimes. But I'm a die-hard fan, and I will buy this album, not torrent like a little bitch.

My favorite Megadeth album is Countdown to Extinction. That's the album that got me into Megadeth. I think Ellefson, Friedman, Mustaine, and Menza were the best Megadeth line-up.

Having said that, I will give Endgame a listen. I heard Head Crusher, and really did not like it.

mustaine has to go to jail for over-abusing the pentatonic scale!! i mean come on!!! you use that your entire career!!!! all his solos are in that crappy vibe,so boring. the other guy has more interesting stuff though.

Riffs - A-
Bass and Rhythm - B+
Solos - A (not sure, most are not rememberable)
Vocals - B (Dave needs to put more energy into it)
Lyrics - D (luckily for me this is the least important thing about metal for me)

Listenability - A+ Nothing was perfect but best Megadeth album in a long while. Brings back the old thrash back to the new scene. A little over-produced but still okay. Every song definitely is addicting to listen to.

haven't listened to it yet cuz i'm on dial up, but i listened to headcrusher and it was kinda lame -.-

spineburger?? wtf? you gave so far so good so what a FOUR OUT OF TEN?!?!!

>>Killing is my Business.. 9/10
Peace Sells 8/10
So far so good... 4/10
Rust in Peace 9/10
Countdown to Extinction 9/10
Youthanasia 3/10
Cryptic Writings 7/10
Risk 5/10
The World needs a hero 6/10
The system has failed 7/10
United Abominations 7/10
Endgame 8/10

and idk what the big deal was about countdown to extinction. it was megadeth's equivalent of black album, the both kinda sucked. well i shouldn't say that, the first few tracks on countdown to extinction were awesome but the cheesy ones like forclosure of a dream and psychotron were pretty lame.

here are my ratings:

Killing is my Business.. 10/10
Peace Sells 10/10
So far so good... 9/10
Rust in Peace ELEVEN/10
Countdown to Extinction 7.5/10
Youthanasia only listened to a couple songs, they were shit so i didn't listen to the rest
Cryptic Writings same story as youthanasia
Risk ditto.
The World needs a hero ditto.
The system has failed 6/10, pretty ****in lame.
United Abominations 6.5 good i guess, nothing special.
Endgame we'll see... probs won't be much better than death magnetic though

mustaine, hetfeild, newstead and lars should get together and make an album. rip cliff & samuelson

I expected this album to something between mediocre and decent, since United Abominations was not much but a step up from its predecessor but still very unremarkable. I excited to have been so wrong. Dave did a wonderful job of incorporating contemporary progressive ideas, classic 80s riffs, and some great thrashy sections. Chris Broderick is at least the second best fit for lead that the band has ever had, and I'm a big fan of Chris Poland. Shawn Drover handles the subtle differences of metal styles quite well. Andy Sneap's mixing is just as awesome as we have come to expect from him.

Endgame is way more than something listenable that a huge name band put out. It's actually one of the best albums I've heard all year.

Another "whatever" megadeth release.

Guitar Solos = A-

I dont get how he does this. The vocals and lyrics are by far the worst ever. We know the guys not a mega singer but man, this is some stupid vocal lines and lyrics. I guess he doesnt have anything else to prove.

I liked it a lot... I thought it had quite a solid feel. And what's with all these people saying they didn't like Headcrusher? I love it, i think it was a perfect choice for a single, and the riff that kicks in at 20 is kickass, i learned that the second i heard it. Perfect headbanging riff. I say it's good, but it does seem to sound like a bunch of their previous albums, too much. Some riffs are extremely similar, they need to find some more inspiration. Oh well, 6.5/10

There's like 1.320 solos on this record, which is great. Wish Mustaine would sing such soaring vocals as he did on Youthanasia though, it would help the album A LOT.

They tend to be that way. The System Has Failed and United Abominations was that way for me and now they are just other great Megadeth albums to me

and idk what the big deal was about countdown to extinction. it was megadeth's equivalent of black album, the both kinda sucked. well i shouldn't say that, the first few tracks on countdown to extinction were awesome but the cheesy ones like forclosure of a dream and psychotron were pretty lame.

here are my ratings:
Killing is my Business.. 10/10
Peace Sells 10/10
So far so good... 9/10
Rust in Peace ELEVEN/10
Countdown to Extinction 7.5/10
Youthanasia only listened to a couple songs, they were shit so i didn't listen to the rest
Cryptic Writings same story as youthanasia
Risk ditto.
The World needs a hero ditto.
The system has failed 6/10, pretty ****in lame.
United Abominations 6.5 good i guess, nothing special.
Endgame we'll see... probs won't be much better than death magnetic though

mustaine, hetfeild, newstead and lars should get together and make an album. rip cliff & samuelson
Wow youre the worst megadeth fan ever.

This coming from someone who isn't a Megadeth fan at all (in fact, I only used to like Rust in Peace and a few spare songs): I like it, it sounds really good.
Definitely a huge step up from their previous albums. While not remarkable, the songwriting is quite good, and the solos are insane (well, Broderick is one of my favourite guitarists, I didn't expect less from him ). The only thing I don't quite like is the vocals, but I've never been a fan of Mustaine's singing, so nothing new here.

I can't believe that someone love megadeth than how can hate metallica... how do you mean shitallica?!... jesus man metallica's death magnetic is more enjoyable and don't say me that "Mustaine plays guitar much better" these two bands showed what they got in their first four albums... Death Magnetic its about getting back from burn out and they did it well... every songs from DM are better than Endgame's songs... i think, and dont get me wrong i love these two bands but the truth is truth

How the story ends, now one of my favorite MegadetH songs, this album rocks only 1-2 songs I don't like but you get that with every cd. The CD reminds me so much of Peace sells, So Far so good, and rust in peace all in one its great!!!

maybe the album was over-hyped or you lot just have stupidly high standards but I found this album to be very enjoyable. Broderick is a machine but he's not quite Marty Friedman, he has to learn not to go a million billion miles per hour in every solo.

i like it but its sort of bland the whole way through its got the same types of riffs in each song and the vocals sound the same in each as well. his vocals arent as good as the other albums not as intense and in your face. i like death magnetic more than this because each song has a distinct sound

jimishred wrote on 09/14/2009 - 06:24 pm / quote |

Should be a good MD album to add to the collection also can UG post up a review when its released?

Same here...i prefer DM to this. Endgame is a good solid album, but that's not enough after so much of hype. And Dave talking so much shit about metallica, slayer etc for promotion doesnt help.

I'm sorry but Dialectic chaos and the joker and the thief.. Dialectic is just five notes up.. Same timing and notes.. And satch gets pissed at coldplay for something that wasn't even the same chord progression.. What a rip off.. Don't get me wrong the album is epic.. But they've mugged wolfmother off.
