Metallica are one of the acts featured on the forthcoming Deep Purple project, "Re-Machined: A Tribute To Machine Head.
Due September 25, the compilation CD presents re-interpretations of Deep Purple’s landmark 1972 album with songs recorded by Iron Maiden, Chickenfoot, Black Label Society and more.

But when I read this, I expected Metallica to have done ANY song except for "When A Blind Man Cries". Amazing song, yet I'm not sure about them doing it.
Unlike a lot of tribute albums, this one interests me a lot. I'm a big fan of several of the artists involved. The preview from the trailer sounded great. Kevin Shirley is easily one of the best modern day producers around.
Great version. James' voice sounds very good, which is really the most important part of this song. Even Lars' snare "fills" don't distract too much!
Looking forward to hearing Maiden's cover too.
Two versions of "Smoke on the Water"? Seriously, that should be banned. I'm pretty sure Santana's version was already released on his covers album a few years ago too. Guess no one was ballsy enough to do a cover of "Child in Time".
I have been a Deep Purple fan since forever. As was my weird habit when I bought single records, in those days, I always played the B side first. Lots of gems buried there. 'When a Blind Man Cries'was one such song and has remained my favorite Purple song. What are the odds that my favorite band would end up playing my favorite Deep Purple song? I love it. I can't stop listening to it. Can't wait until the album is in my hands. It's gonna be a long month.
