Metallica performed another two previously unreleased songs from the "Death Magnetic" sessions called "Rebel Of Babylon" and "Hell And Back" as part of the week-long celebration of their 30th anniversary as a band for fan club members only.
Commented the band:
"We're pretty excited to be bringing these songs back to life nearly four years after they were recorded. Once again, this is the unpolished version of the song... the original rough mix from March of 2008 in its rawest, untouched form."
A rough-mix versions of the studio recordings have since been e-mailed to members of Metallica's official fan club and can now be streamed in the YouTube clips below.
Metallica earlier last week made available two other previously unreleased songs from the "Death Magnetic" sessions called "Hate Train" and "Just A Bullet Away" after first performing them live on Monday, December 5 and Wednesday, December 7, respectively, at the Fillmore in San Francisco.
"Death Magnetic" was officially certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on June 28, 2010 for shipments in the United States in excess of two million copies.
Brilliant! Digging the fact there's some stuff in these tracks that doesn't sound like run-of-the-mill Metallica. There's only one way these tracks could be any better and I think we all know which useless, lazy balding old bastard I'm referring to
I have to say that after Lulu I'm glad they are putting these songs out. I can respect them for doing there own thing but this is just so much better. Being a drummer i respect Lars to for what he has put forth but its so far away from what he is capable of. He has lost his ability to write though. Either that or he just cant play like he used to. i mean he is getting pretty old at this point...

Better watch out or everybody will neg you for saying good things about metallica haha
I'm surprised people aren't more happy about Rebel of Babylon. In my opinion, around 4:13 they seem to go very close to their older roots. The song is heavy, good singing, and even a little thrashing at points. Only weak point IMO is the chorus, but I would definitely expect people to be very happy about this one. 4 unrealeased Metallica songs being released = apology for Lulu
These are great tracks, I'm suprised they didn't make it on the album.
I won't deny, I'm a pretty big fan of Metallica so I'm kind of biased I suppose. But every song that was in Death Magnetic were better than these ones. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE these tracks, I always love to hear something new by Metallica (perhaps not Lulu) but none of them seems as good as any off of Death Magnetic.
But, at least it shows they're still really creative, and so has made me more confident for their next release despite Lulu. Which is what they were hoping for perhaps?
^That is the real news! WTF?! Why is that not on front page?! Man that was EPIC! I think Hell has, in fact, frozen over! Not as big of a Metallica fan as I used to be, but that gained some serious respect points back in my book. Killer. Maybe they still have some spark left. I aint holdin my breath, but that was pretty damn cool of them.

Hey dont get me wrong i love Metallica and have seen them live twice. and i have downloaded both live show. but i wish he would go back to a more in depth writing style for drums. I play stuff from kill em' all and ride the lightning all the time but the newer the stuff the easier it is to play. Its still good though and i love every bit of it.
