Metallica Remix With Jay-Z Really Works

A talented young producer has remixed Metallica with Jay-Z - and it sounds surprisingly good.

The producer, BamBeatz, blended the entire Metallica "Black Album" with Jay-Z's "The Black Album". The full remix album will be released in spring, and you can hear the preview track "Moment Of Clarity" below.

It is not the first time a bedroom producer has blended rock and rap with impressive results. In 2004, a mashup of Jay-Z's "The Black Album" album was mixed with The Beatles' self-titled white album.

The result was appropriately titled "The Grey Album", and it brought producer Danger Mouse to fame. He went on to form pop duo Gnarls Barkley.

More recently, punk heroes Fugazi were mixed with Wu Tang Clan to form "13 Chambers", which you can also hear below.

Exactly. Because everybody knows how many albums you sell determines your level of talent. It doesn't actually have anything to do with real talent, something which Jay-Z is completely lacking.

He is one of the worst rappers I have ever heard -- especially to be considered one of the best. I don't even listen to much rap music, but I've heard my fair share, and I can tell you with confidence that it is extremely easy to find a rapper as good as, or better than Jay-Z. How does this constitue an article here? You could go find a handful of better mash ups that 'work' better, and are more interesting and less boring in just a few minutes on YouTube. The Wugazi ones are so much better -- not just because they sound better and are less boring, but because Wu-Tang is so much better than Jay-Z in the first place.

Do these people realize that there are other things to remix besides Jay-Z's Black Album? Didn't it suck bad enough the first time? I thought it was bad, even for a Jay-Z album.

I think you're confusing Spinal Tap references for racism.

Both of these artists' albums were The Black Album, whether it's their official title or not; Spinal Tap's Smell the Glove album cover was all black, and they said it could be "none more black".

So, when they're saying up there about, "How much more black could it be? None. None more black," they're referencing that movie and the album covers/titles -- not ethnicity.

The word producer keeps getting thrown around. Making a beat or remix a song does not make you a producer. I myself am a producer and know that anyone can "make a beat". It takes a lot of hard work to become a producer. Working hard with bands getting the right sound out of the band, working on lyrics with them, working on melodies and harmonies. That is a producer. Someone who clicks and drags a pre made beat from pro tools is NOT producing. If I had sex with a girl, does that make me a "porn star"

This is easy, because the rapping is not really using any melody, so it doesn't take much effort. Compare it to this -

That took a bit more effort to make. Even then, they had to pitch shift the original vocal track. But the result is nearly flawless.

For the record, metal is NOT the only genre i listen to. Im really into classic rock, blues, jazz, hard rock, progressive rock.
And i never said that ALL rap artists sing about that stuff. I will admit there is good rap out there, thats not where my point is. Yeah rap isnt my music style but my thing is its all the big rappers out there today that are huge, do sing about money, drugs etc.
Im just saying, 99% of my friends listen to that, and when i listen to what theyre listening to- for one its something different every time, and 2 they all sing about that. ok i thought metallica learned that making their music with other artist (lou reed) and mixing it doesn't sound that great... and now with rap? i have lost all hope for this band to make another good album. this is just my opinion. i think they lost it after the black album, even though i like a few songs off it, and maybe 1 or 2 off death magnetic....
