Mike Shinoda Talks New Album |

"I don't think it's indicative of where the next record is going," Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda says of "New Divide," the "Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen" soundtrack song that hit No. 1 on both the Rock Songs and Alternative Songs charts this summer.
In a video interview (watch it here) the co-vocalist/ rapper explained that the band's follow up to 2007 No. 1 album "Minutes To Midnight" is underway now that the album by Dead By Sunrise, singer Chester Bennington's side project, is finished and nearing its October 13 release.
" We mentally want to get back to [2000's "Hybrid Theory"] not because we want to sound like [that], because I don't think we do," Shinoda says of the forthcoming Linkin Park album, which they aim to release in the first half of 2010. " But we want to make this record a record with identity, hopefully not one you've heard before. One you can listen to and say, 'That's brand new... It's definitely Linkin Park, but it's definitely different.'"
Thanks for the report to Billboard.com.

It's called progressing forward and exploring new boundaries, and they're doing a hell of a good job at it.POSTED: 09/23/2009 - 01:38 pm / quote |

This is the problem with the band now, they have no idea what they want to sound like, they keep just trying to play into whatever is the trend at the time, I know Hybrid Theory played into the whole Nu-Metal thing but at least it was something slightly different to the bland dross they are putting out now

: Gods do I hope they get back to their original sound. I don't dislike the new albu, but I definitely prefer Hybrid Theory/Meteora to it. I don't want ANOTHER hybrid theory, but the vibe, the tone, the style, yes, I want that back.POSTED: 09/23/2009 - 04:34 pm / quote |

: This band officially blows, done deal. "New Divide" sounds so similar to "What I've Done" that I wanna yack every time I hear it. I'm sick of the same tunes and their "attempt to grow" or whatever you want to call it for Minutes to Midnight failed. Maybe in the eyes of the eons of teenage girls that will eat up anything this band puts out, but that album was a giant failure.
They're by no means original and they plug in the same depressing lyrics and thoughts into an identical formula for every song. The bottom line is that no matter what they release, be it crap or amazing, it will sell madly.
Good luck, LP, stop sucking.POSTED: 09/23/2009 - 06:12 pm / quote |

: "New Divide" was ment to sound exactly like "What I've done" because the film producers of Transformers wanted the song to remind people of the first transformers movie....
