Back for 2012 with a new album and supporting Lady Gaga at her UK shows, love 'em or hate 'em cock-rockers The Darkness have premiered their comeback track, "Everybody Have A Good Time". Listen to the track at this location.
The band raised eyebrows earlier this year when they revealed that new album "Hot Cakes" would include a cover of Radiohead's classic, "Street Spirit" and lead singer Justin Hawkins has revealed that it had long been the plan to release a studio version of the track.
"We included the Radiohead cover because it has been a live favourite for many moons, and we wanted to release a definitive recording of our interpretation," said Justin. "'Hot Cakes' has a nice raw feel to it like the first album had, with occasional luxurious moments akin to the second. We're proud of the songs and we can't wait for people to hear them.
"We've been playing a lot of the material from hot cakes in the live set for some time now. Each time we play a new song it feels like a deep powerful thrust in a frenzied love ritual between us and our fans. August 20th really will be a sweet release for all concerned."
Listen to "Everybody Have A Good Time" here and check out a behind the scenes video - which features priest robes, girls, alcohol and Justin Hawkins' nipples. Let us know what you think!
I love the darkness, amazing live and i love pretty much everything they do.
However they will never be able to top 'Permission To Land', now thats not because they 'suck now' or anything like that, its simply that 'Permission To Land' was such an amazing Debut album anything else they do will forever be in its shadows.
Still love these guys, there awesome live and the cover of street spirit kicks arse!!!
Yeh gotta agree with all of the above...can't possibly top the epic Permission To Land and they're amazing live, I've seen Metallica and Red Hot Chili Peppers live but The Darkness trumped both of those bands with pure energy, it was amazing to see them on their first tour and their most current tour, much love The Darkness keep rockin'!!
I love how every UG article mentioning the Darkness lately has the same little paragraph about the Radiohead cover followed by a cut-and-paste quote from Justin. Come on guys, at least try to be original in your articles...
