No Doubt have begun to preview their first album in ten years with a behind-the-scene webisode.
The clip below shows the band working on the song "Push & Shove" with producer Spike Stent at his studio in Santa Monica, California. Skip to 1:56 in the clip for a drum-smacking preview of the catchy new song.
Bassist Tony Kanal says the band collaborated with Major Lazer (comprised of DJs Diplo and Switch) on this particular track:
"We got a call from Jimmy Iovine, and he's like, "You should meet with these guys, they really want to work with No Doubt." We'd heard of Major Lazer and we'd heard of Diplo and Switch. I reached out to them, we all got in the studio together and worked on this track - and here we are now with this amazingly exciting idea."
Singer Gwen Stefani can barely contain her joy at working on their new album:
"It's getting so exciting now," she said. "You can definitely see the end in sight. I don't care if it comes out, because actually, I just enjoyed making it."
So why has it taken ten years since their 2001 album "Rock Steady", to release another?
"A lot of stuff happened during that time period," Gwen told Rolling Stone last year. "Marriages, babies and, for me, two records and two clothing lines. So if you really worked out the math, you'd be like, "Wow, you guys are going fast."
