X Factor boyband One Direction have performed a cover version of Oasis' "Wonderwall". Check out the performance below.
The teenage stars cover the Britpop classic in an acoustic performance on a beach, which sees Niall Horan lead proceedings as he plays the guitar while sat on a cool-box. A football, rug and guitar case are carefully placed in shot as the five-piece rework the track.
The One Direction cover version is given the true boyband treatment as Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayne Malik and Louis Tomlinson add "oohs", "ahhs" and falsetto ad-libs to their version of the track.
The boyband recently performed at the Olympics closing ceremony, where Oasis star Liam Gallagher also performed a cover of the song with his band Beady Eye. Noel Gallagher later credited brother Liam with being "Stratford's finest Oasis tribute act".
hell at least one of them is playing guitar and it isnt ridiculously over-produced. They make lame music, thats for damn sure, but haters are gone hate arent they?
That was really awful
- The guitarist plays the wrong chords
- The harmonies are awful
- The leg slapping? Whatever that was...
At least playing a deep cut like Wonderwall shows me that these guys have their finger on the pulse of the rock movement and a knowledge of a musical catalog that extends way beyond their years. (eyeroll) I strongly dislike bands like this.
Nah, don't worry, like all of their fans, they'll never look past the most popular song for bands. I just pray to God that they hate Nirvana cause I swear to ****ing god if they sing Teen Spirit I will kill someone.
People saying its a good cover only think that because it sounds so close to the original. The point of a cover is to reinvent a song you love in a creative way which pays respect to the original. When you do a cover which does not deviate in any way from the original, you are the worst kind of lazy jackass for leeching off the success of the original artist. Rant over.
It's not necessarily bad, but why do bands insist on doing "covers" when they're just going to sing in the exact same way the original artist did? No value in that.
Eh it's not that bad. They're just screwingq around, it's not like they're planning on releasing this as a single or anything. Not that it excuses them for sucking at all other times though.
Christ, this is bad, I mean, It doesnt belong on this site, I'm sick of everything Liam Gallagher says or does being on the front page, let alone this piss.
The horrible thing is that people will actually pay money for this...
If anyone (In the World!) has ever missed the point of the 1991 Manchester Inner City band writing Definately Maybe, What's the Story and Be Here Now, and the feel, soul and tone of the records, it's these khunts... Everyone on Earth knows this is the most basic song ever written; even polished deekweeds like these kids can enjoy it ("But it's not as good as the Keiser Chief's record, for 'in your face attitude'...")
I wish all the bashing would stop. I have mad respect for these guys having the sufficiently sized genitalia to publicly cover anything Oasis wrote. Think about the risks one runs with Liam and Noel listening to you perform their stuff. I wouldn't do it, haha.
Shouldn't there be rules concerning who's aloud to cover whom. That's just an insult to all rock fans in the world, not to mention Grunge, whose mood and style is the total opposite of this SHIT !!! Fuck those pussies...
Seriously i don't see why everyone gets so pissed off when stuff like this is posted, don't listen if you're gonna have a cry. This is actually a very good cover, they are talented. I don't like their music but this cover is good. Everyone just wants to feel cool and say they hate it.
Although I ****ing hate their music and their artistic approach, this cover didn't suck overly much apart from some of the superflous harmonies. To be honest, if you would have posted the audio without letting UG readers know OD played it, I think it would have gotten a lot less hate, hah
Now i understand what they meant by 2012 being the end of the world.....Justin Bieber laid eggs and sent them on a mission to ruin the music world.....REPENT!!!
