Rare 1986 Offspring Demo Tape Available Online

According to DyingScene.com, an Offspring fansite has unearthed another one of the band's earliest demo tapes, which is available for downloading on that website. It is a 6-song demo tape that they recorded in July 1986, and it features Dexter Holland on vocals, Noodles on guitar, Greg K on bass and James Lilja on drums. The owner of the fansite states it for the record:

"Not too long ago a tape surfaced with a few old songs on it. And now, it happened again! KrispyNotKrunchy, a devoted Offspring fan and member of the official Offspring forums, has bought a 1986 tape from eBay and managed to get the full tape in high quality online. This tape was recorded when Noodles was still known as Kevin, Greg K. was known as just Greg, and their drummer was still James Frederick Lilja who apparently was a Satan worshipper."

"The untitled demo tape contains music we've heard before, music we partially heard before, and music we wish we heard before! It comes from an era when the band still younger than most of today's fans. Dexter and Greg were about the age of 21, while Noodles was around the age of 23. James Lilja must've been about the same age as Dexter and Greg, seeing as Noodles was the oldest in the band and by the time he entered the band, the only one who could legally buy beer. What a reason to join a band huh?"

The July 1986 demo tape contains earlier versions of "Blackball" and "I'll Be Waiting" (formerly known as "Fire And Ice"), which would be re-recorded three years later for their debut album. Also included are "Tonight I Do", "Call It Religion", "Halloween" and a cover of The Sweet's "Ballroom Blitz", but none of them have been recorded for a future Offspring album.

The Offspring are presently recording new material for their upcoming eighth studio album, which is supposed to be released sometime next year. The album is the follow-up to 2008's "Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace", and they recently revealed five working songtitles that will likely appear on it. The titles are "Anti War", "Anti Police", "Anti Religion", "Death" and "My Girlfriend Is A B-tch". This hints that the band could be returning to their early roots.
