Rob Zombie Guitarist Covers Michael Jackson Single

Current Rob Zombie and former Marilyn Manson guitarist John 5 has recorded a cover of Michael Jackson classic "Beat It", of which you can hear a clip from inside!

Guitar supremo John 5 – who currently plays with Rob Zombie and is also known for his time as Marilyn Manson’s axeman – has recorded an instrumental cover of classic Michael Jackson number "Beat It".

The track – which featured a solo from legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen on the original – is taken from his upcoming sixth solo album, titled "God Told Me To" and due out later this year.

I love John 5, he's one of my favourite guitarists. But talk about flogging a dead horse...

I like John 5. He's a great guitar player...

...but I don't like his instrumental covers. I didn't listen to the clip, so I don't know about this one.

But usually, he plays it pretty close to the way the original went, but he keeps his heavy guitar tone, and he usually stays pretty faithful to the lead in the song (although it would be cooler to hear his take on it). What really ruins it, for me, is that he plays the vocal melodies on his guitar, and it sounds pretty stupid, most of the time -- actually, all of the time, in any I've ever heard.

Like I said, I like John 5, but his instrumental covers just sound silly to me.

Yeah, it's like when people tab the vocal melody in guitar pro tabs, and use like an oboe or something for it. it's unnecessary and sounds pretty stupid.

That's actually usually incredibly helpful if you need the music for the vocal lines, as I usually do. While I agree, using something like an oboe may not be the best choice (synths are probably the best thing to use), it is still nice to have.

Any ways. This sounds exactly the same as the original, except with the vocal line played on guitar. Does the guy not have any creativity? I hate it when covers sound exactly the same as the original. If I wanted that, I would listen to the original. I listen to your cover because I want to hear your own taste and influence on it, and how you envision it etc.

This guy is amazing, yet I cannot find his cd's in any good music shop, and believe me, I have looked in shops in two different countries, this is ****ed up.

This is just a guess, but have you tried e-bay or amazon?
