The Rolling Stones have released a video for "Doom And Gloom" - one of two new songs on their "GRRR!" greatest hits package.
Directed by Jonas Akerlund, the clip stars award-winning Swedish actress Noomi Rapace ("The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo"), who jumped at the chance to get up close and personal with the Stones in Paris for the shoot.
The group filmed the footage behind closed doors in a Paris warehouse. Like the character in the movie, Noomi plays a punk wild child who not only joins the Stones performance, she also goes in for some rather splendid rock n roll /trash the place type behaviour... all in the best possible taste.
While the Stones play "Doom And Gloom" the actress goes into meltdown in one crazy sequence after another.
Fans will be stunned when she:
Is chased in a Louisiana swamp by evil zombies who end up in a shoot out;
Lies semi-naked on a bed of 100 dollar bills... then sets fire to the money and flushes it down the toilet;
Gorges on junk food ...throws up... head explodes;
Dances at the roadside in skimpy outfit flashing at unsuspecting motorists;
Struts into shot with the band and takes over the vocal performance from Jagger;
In "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" Noomi portrayed troubled young woman Lisbeth Salander investigating a crooked billionaire. The 2009 movie, directed by Stieg Larsson, was a surprise cult hit seen by more than six million fans. She also starred in Ridley Scott's "Prometheus".
"GRRR!" is the new greatest hits collection to mark the band's 50th Anniversary.
The set is available in five different formats, including a three-CD 50-track version and a four-CD super-deluxe version that includes 80 songs.
Wow, great video, but am i the only one that is struck with the thought that this is more of a Soungardenish video than the last video thats actually by Soungarden? And it's the Stones...Really, it reminds me of Black Hole Sun.
The Stones are still rockin', love this video. Best video of the year! Although not even with the hot chick dancing around in front of him, does Charlie act enthused... =\
Great song and great video but I have my reservations abpout the reporting. It says "The 2009 movie, directed by Stieg Larsson, was a surprise cult hit seen by more than six million fans." Sadly, Stieg Larsson died of cancer in 2004 just weeks after he handed the original manuscripts for the first three BOOKS in the millennium series. The books have gone on to sell over 65 million copies worldwide. Im sorry for sounding like a dick, I just wanted this brilliant author to get some credit for writing one of the greatest crime novels of all time. The Rolling Stones are also incredible and probably the greatest performers the music industry has ever seen.
