According to Blabbermouth.net, Shinedown has released the official music video for "Bully", the first single from the band's upcoming fourth album, "Amaryllis". The clip, which can be seen below, brings the song's theme of overcoming adversity to life by interspersing scenes of bullying with footage of the band performing the song.
Loudwire described the clip as covering "both the dark side and the light at the end of the tunnel of a very serious issue from those personally impacted to others that just turn a blind eye, connecting the dots between us all."
"Bully" is already Number One at Active Rock radio.
"Amaryllis" comes out on March 27 and follows up Shinedown's biggest success yet, 2008's "The Sound Of Madness".
That disc sold more than a million copies and produced six hit singles, including a number of rock radio chart-toppers.
Shinedown will lead the 2012 edition of the Avalanche Tour. The North American trek will kick off on March 27 in Anaheim, California, with Adelitas Way, New Medicine and Art Of Dying also on the bill.
When asked by The Pulse Of Radio how he feels Shinedown has evolved musically on "Amaryllis", the band's frontman, Brent Smith, said, "The musicianship got way stronger, the songwriting got way more sophisticated, and I think that overall we were able to push ourselves in a direction that was — I don't necessarily know if it was the obvious next step, but we enjoyed the journey with each other."
This is amazing =o Only found out this band and song via Kerrang. It's good I looked these guys up, bloody good song. Shame I nevr heard of these guys before, really good band. oh, and this is for youtube. Whoever dislikes this is a bully. Someone would put that...
this song is garbage. all brent does is whine about a bully...like rly? can b more creative than tht
Yeah I'm gonna have to agree. Seems so childish. They kind of already made a better version of this song (What a Shame). I want heavier songs like Cyanide Sweet Tooth Suicide.
Jesus, I'm gonna buy the new album anyways but I pray to god it isn't all about whiney topics such as this, otherwise its going to be 10 quid down the bleedin' drain
Great song musically, and the lyrics are good but could do with being more subtle. Just the word 'bully' sounds off, they should've conveyed the message more subtley.
I agree that the lyrics are pretty (ok, REALLY) lame. Though they certainly know how to right a catchy chorus. For me, Shinedown falls in the category of one of those bands that's trying to maintain the same attitude and message they had from the beginning, but it's just at a point where it seems forced. Their first 2 albums (and some of the 3rd) had a lot of sincerity in them, but it's hard to relate to a band singing about being bullied and victimized when you know they're selling out arenas across the country. IMO
i like sound of madness and cry for help pretty groovy but this really come on you might as while write a song about getting broke up with oh wait nevermind.
These guys just sound like every other average band on the radio now after losing their guitar player a while back. The first 2 albums were amazing.
I agree, but I'm pretty sure that Jasin Todd didn't leave the band until after he had recorded all the guitar parts on Sound of Madness. I could be mistaken though.
