Slipknot To Release Free Single Tomorrow, Reveal Album Details

According to Kerrang.com, Slipknot will release a brand new track, "All Hope Is Gone", as a free download single tomorrow (June 20). The title cut of the band's new album will be available for free from the Roadrunner Records web site for a period of 24 hours beginning at midnight EST, then will be available as a download single from digital retailers like iTunes and Napster on June 23.

"'All Hope Is Gone' is a classic-style Slipknot track pure and simple, but this fucker is jacked up a few thousand volts!" drummer Joey Jordison told Kerrang! "The song, music and theme speak for itself. It's a song about the world at stake: all the situations at hand, be it personal or worldly, and trying to turn things into a positive. Sometimes you have to face the grotesque to bring about something amazing."

Jordison revealed that "All Hope Is Gone" is a true collaborative effort and was one of the final songs recorded for the band's follow-up to 2004's "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)", which is also called "All Hope Is Gone".

"I actually demoed this song alone and didn't know what would come of it as we were nearing the end of the album," he said. "I was hoping it would make it. I knew it would, once everyone spewed their venom upon it.

"A lot of the grind riffs for the verses changed into riffs Paul [Gray, bassist] had years ago, way before Slipknot," he added. "Funny how things won't die. Mick [Thomson, guitarist] came in and fucking set fire to the track and Jim [Root, guitarist] followed as well. Once Corey [Taylor, frontman] put his fucking vocals on it, that was it, man. That guy's voice and conviction could sell narcotics to a nun."

Slipknot's new album, "All Hope Is Gone", will be released on August 26 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded this spring in Slipknot's home state of Iowa and was co-produced by the band and Dave Fortman (Evanescence, Mudvayne).

"We have made an album that will show the road behind, the road ahead, and where we are as men," Corey Taylor said in a statement. "I think it's the best thing I've ever made. And I challenge anyone to prove me wrong."

Yeah theres nothing special about the track. Its Slipknot theres not much to expect, but finally they have a ****ing solo that isn't 3 seconds ****ing long. If they think they're so goddamn bad ass why cant they do better?!!?

I'm not kidding. I used to love these guys, but then I started listening to waaaaay better things. This stuff just seems like 8th grader shit. Sorry, it just pisses me off that they can't do better.

It's already leaked onto the internet.

It's good stuff. Not really for fans of Vol. 3 though. It's more like the stuff on Iowa.

I used to like these guys, until I found better stuff. Seriously guys, it's not that hard to find good music. I am disappointed that they decided to go a step back. Vol 3. was a step in the right direction.

I used to like Slipknot before I got into REAL music. I listened to the track and, in my honest opinion, I think it sucks. I will listen to their older shit for nostalgic reasons but this track just seems like a worse version of their past. I admit, they had some ****ed up angry emotions in the past records but this just seems like their almost faking it. I also wonder what strictly fans of Subliminal Verses will think of this new stuff if most of the tracks follow suit of this song.

All you haters shut the hell up, This song is one song with intensity, the album i'm hopin will be like a bestof of Iowa and the Subliminal verses, as i loved trhe acoustic tracks on tat album! And not only teenage boys its awesome, it has a ripping solo in it and has the intensity that got me into slipknot in the first place! I personally hope that this is a mixture of Iowa and the subliminal verses as I loved the nihilistic lyrical content and intensity of Iowa and the use of quiet and loud dynamics to accentuate their sound( the acoustic tracks were awesome) I'm fed up with slipknots reputation as a nu-metal band with masks for tenney-weenies. Its an old statement first brought out about 7 years ago, grow up and if you don't like slipknot don't speak on a slipknot thread. I don't particulary like Opeth as I find them boring, i don't start dissing them when one of their threads comes around!

The song has a Deicide feel to it, (minus the lyrics.) As long as they keep the intensity of this song but LOSE the blast beats, we could have an awesome CD heading our way. It's safe to say, I won't be impressed if it is all machine gun drumming and grinding.

Aren't people allowed to have their own opinions about music? I hate it when people say "Band A sucks, Band B is so much better." To quote the Big Lebowski, "That's like, your opinion man." You can like both Slipknot and other bands. In fact, I like Slipknot, but Opeth and Death happen to be my favorite bands. I don't agree with the insane, obsessive Slipknot fans, but all you haters are just as bad.

if you actauly listen to the song it sounds quite unlike anything ive heard. its quite original in my opinion. its got a strange choruse, weird samples, loads of riff changes and stuff... it just sounds like slipknot to me , which is good.

although theyle never make an album as good as their self titled ever again

Oh noes a Slipknot article!!!!!11 Time for all the 'true metalheads' to speak out, go listen to some Opeth!

Hell I listen to bands such as Spawn of Possession, Deeds of Flesh, Psycroptic and Suffocation and yes I love Slipknot too. Rather than judging them by how long it takes you to learn how to play their riffs in your bedroom, judge them by the ability to write good songs even though it's not necesairily the most techincal stuff out there.

This song sounds pretty cool and promising btw, can't wait for the new album.

Exactly. People are so dense. I don't give a **** about that "troo kvlt" nonsense. Good music is good music. People put way too many boundaries on music and it's holding them back. It's gotten to the point where people bitch about a band just because of the genre they play and never even heard the damn song.

Knot isn't all that about hate and dark images compared to some examples of crazy black metal bands out there, this is song does not have that unique slipknot tribal groove to it but its direction shows improvement in musicianship, but yeah it isn't that special except that it hints how heavy and rockin this record is gonna be. like some people who posted, i got into heavy music through slipknot and other nu metal acts and i've matured to old school and complex stuff others would consider 'better' like death, thrash, progressive, and a ton of different soft and heavy genres and at the end of the day slipknot still rocks ****in hard man, why y'all hatin?

okay so i finally downloaded and heard the song and in my opinion it starts out sounding like slipknot like okay this is definitely slipknots general sound. then the vocals kick in and as much as i liked coreys vocals on songs he wrote, when his vocals came on i was like what the hell? like it kicks into faster guitar playing and screaming vocals that sound like its off time. kinda unorganized i guess and like it doesn't really fit together. yes heavy guitars and screaming does mix but i think they could've worked on the timing better. i can only hope that the rest of the songs on the new album is a bit more on time and organized than this otherwise i will have to say that all hope is gone for slipknot. which is sad to say coming from me cause i'm a huge fan of slipknot. i really liked vol. 3 when most other people i heard from called the album shit. idk if they can out do the self titled and the iowa albums. have to hear the rest of this new album to see. but thats how i feel about the song. i will say its better than most of the new songs i heard from other bands that released new stuff this year. but thats about it. i'm not gonna pretend i like something and call it kick ass just because its from a band i really like. oh well theres always the old songs.

Why are you comparing Trent to a band like Slipknot? Both bands are amazing imo. But I don't really like Trent's new stuff.

DANG THERE'S A LOT OF ANGRY HATERS OUT THERE.

I got an idea. If you don't like them, then why are you reading the article? And even worse, why are you commenting?

Lame. Have a nice day you angry mofos.

Cuz the article kinda stuck out nd they wanted to express their opinions, chill the **** out and try to be a little open minded. The song was mediocre anyway

This sounds like they mixed up some of their old tracks. added a solo and changed the lyrics... WHATS WRONG... well i know.. This song isn't more heavy than they where... So... Knock yourself out. It sux in my opinion.

I like the song, its ****in heavy, and alot deeper and shit. It kinda leans towards their older heavier shit in like IOWA but better, Vol. 3 was gr8, I wont lie but honestly I dont think it wasnt really SlipKnot, I used to be scared of them, now my christian friends are rocking out to Duality and Before I Forget. Im glad they've gone ****in heavy again, and Joeys new mask is ****in amazing.
