Local band Timepiece are working through their set at Woody's last Thursday when the one, and only, Bruce Springsteen pops up on stage and joins them for the Wilson Pickett classic, “Mustang Sally.”
It’s actually no coincidence this happened – there is a connection here: Springsteen’s brother-in-law, Mike Scialfa, is a member of Timepiece.
Seems Bruce is itchin’ to play these days…
Springsteen will make his only scheduled live tv performance this year on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, November 16, to celebrate the simultaneous releases of "The Promise" 2-CD set and "The Promise: The Darkness on the Edge of Town Story" 6-disc set.
This isn't that big a deal, actually. he does this kind of thing all the time around NJ, especially the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, which he helped make famous. Still awesome that he makes unannounced appearances in small clubs, though.
