What’s the best way to spice up a lyric video on youtube? Put a stripper in it, that’s what! Or at least that’s the attitude that British pomp rockers The Darkness have taken anyway.
Alongside the scrolling words to latest single, Every Inch Of You, the band’s newest video also features a model taking off her clothes. To be fair, it’s exactly the sort of thing that you’d expect from The Darkness. Check out the video below.
Every Inch Of You is taken from the band’s latest album, Hot Cakes, which according to the NME will be released on August 20th. Full tracklisting is as follows:
01. Every Inch Of You 02. Nothing's Gonna Stop Us 03. With A Woman 04. Keep Me Hangin' On 05. Living Every Day Blind 06. Everybody Having A Good Time 07. She Just A Girl Eddie 08. Forbidden Love 09. Concrete 10. Street Spirit (Fade Out) 11. Love Is Not The Answer
Street Sprit is, of course, a cover of the classic Radiohead tune, which might seem like an unconventional choice for the band. As Justin Hawkins explains:
"We included the Radiohead cover because it has been a live favourite for many moons, and we wanted to release a definitive recording of our interpretation."
Hawkins also had the following to say about the new album:
"'Hot Cakes' has a nice raw feel to it like the first album had, with occasional luxurious moments akin to the second. We're proud of the songs and we can't wait for people to hear them. We've been playing a lot of the material from the album in the live set for some time now. Each time we play a new song it feels like a deep powerful thrust in a frenzied love ritual between us and our fans."
The Darkness will support Lady Gaga on the UK leg of her tour in September.
Each time we play a new song it feels like a deep powerful thrust in a frenzied love ritual between us and our fans.
Only Justin can say stuff like that and still be cool. But yeah, they can do better than this song, even though it's better than a lot of other music out there.
They can do soooo much better. I've heard Nothing's Gonna Stop Us and now this song, and I gotta say it's pretty dissappointing when compared to songs like Black Shuck, Get Your Hands Off of My Woman, Growing On Me, etc. Their first album was loaded with great songs. I hope the rest of their new album can compare.
I liked the "take your qualifications and shove up your arse" bit. But I am 2 hours away from a fourier analysis and optics exam. which I am likely to fail, due to too much time spent drinking and not enough working.
Of the new songs they've played so far, this is the worst IMO. So no worries if you don't like it, the rest is much better, for example Concrete and Out of This World are excellent. Very disappointing the latter isn't on the album cuz that would have been an amazing single.
