U2 Streaming New Single Online

After years of work, U2 are finally nearing the release of their much anticipated new album, "No Line On The Horizon". Fortunately for us, the wait just got a little bit shorter as the band has released their new single, "Get On Your Boots", to radio and iTunes. The band has also provided a streaming version of the song for our listening pleasure.

The album will release on March 2 to most of the world and on March 3 for the U.S. The album, which was produced by Brian Eno, Danny Lanois and Steve Lillywhite, will be released in six different formats including standard CD, LP, and digital versions along with digipak, magazine, and box-set versions which will include varying bonus materials according to Interscope.

"No Line On The Horizon" is currently available for pre-order through iTunes with the first single being available now for $0.99.

In other news, U2 recently played at "We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration At The Lincoln Memorial", a concert put together to celebrate U.S. President-elect Barack Obama's future inauguration on January 20. Among the many that performed on Sunday were also Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi.

i can see that. this song isn't outstanding but it's not bad. it's not nearly as strong of a lead-off single as vertigo was. but i like that it's pretty up-beat. i think it's better with a second listen.

It's said that their new single is different from rest of the tracks on the new album....meaning that this is their 'pop' song on their album. There is a hint of Achtung in there. A different angle on the chorus too. This song will sound great live....they usually remake the songs for concerts.

Most songs that become great songs usually take time grow upon. The ones that just come out as a hit, become 1 hit wonders, or make it to some top 100 Vh1 worst songs of all time. Get On Your Boots is will take time to get used to, just like U2 other great songs. Everytime you hear it, there's another angle to it. Those that don't see that, have a limited listening capacity. Btw, I don't think War, The Joshua Tree and Pop sound the same. Go see an Audiologist!

pretty cool for new U2. it lacks the soul of their old stuff, but they always have good guitar and good melodies. this one sounds a little subversive, but there's no lyrics in it that make me go "hmmm"

Well i was hoping for a vertigo, but still, very impressed!!! its a great song, takes a few listens to love, but real good! i love U2 to death and im really glad theyre still making music, ill prolly buy the album if the rest of the trackss are at least almost as good as this one!! 7.8/10!!!!!

Agreed. U2 is as much a rock band as AC/DC. Their discography is much, much more diverse though. A bit more complex too.

Anyway, I like the new song, but U2 have been a singles band every album since Achtung Baby pretty much. Evidently, Steve Lillywhite thinks it's their best album though... It's a stretch considering they seemed to have peaked 1987, but stranger things have happened.

By the way, I think the cover art is really cool.

Unfortunatly for me, this was not one. Found it kinda annoying, which aint a good thing as many people will like this and so it will be played alot =/

I would hardly call U2 influential. They are a decent hits band, but that is about it.

i agree U2 aren't one bit influential on modern rock bands at all. Bands like Oasis who've inspired countless people to go out and pick up a guitar and made been in a rock band cool again are the real influential bands in modern music.

I'd say Green Day and Blink 182 are pop-punk. And "Pop" is pretty horrible album. Achtung Baby is pretty much the only real rock album, but so many other U2 albums are way too pop. So I'd say U2 is a pop rock band but thats just my opinion
