U2 and YouTube have teamed up to broadcast a live stream of the band's Los Angeles concert this weekend via its YouTube channel.
The Sunday, October 25 show is taking place at the Rose Bowl for those paying to attend, but will be free for any fan wishing to tune in from the 16 countries supported.
This is YouTube's second effort at live-streaming concerts.
In August, it aired portions of the Outside Lands music festival, and the U2 show will be the first start-to-finish live stream.
Like other live concert streams, portions will be archived and available for streaming after the event.
More details on the announcement on the YouTube blog.
Thanks for the report to Billboard.com.

Albums aren't the only things that matter, I would rather say LIVE PERFORMANCE is the only thing that matters if I had one thing to choose. Music is a lifestyle, not something that you put in your CD player.POSTED: 10/20/2009 - 03:08 pm / quote |

: Yeah, I saw them in Sheffield earlier this year and they were absolutely amazing. So all I can say to anyone who is thinking about saying something negative here is just watch the broadcast. Then you can say whatever you like and I won't complain because it's an informed opinion, instead of just a rant for the sake of it.POSTED: 10/20/2009 - 05:03 pm / quote |

They sound amazing these days. I saw them in Charlottesville and it was hands down the best concert experience I had, and this is comin from a guy who saw his favorite band in the world the next night (blink in VA beach)POSTED: 10/20/2009 - 06:32 pm / quote |

Errr, It's fairly well known that U2 are a "live band" rather than a band that only really sounds good on record.POSTED: 10/20/2009 - 06:57 pm / quote |

: This is why U2 is great. All those U2 haters don't realize that because of U2 always trying to push the envelope, their (U2 haters) little bar/garage bands can start streaming their concerts too....live!POSTED: 10/20/2009 - 09:54 pm / quote |

@ metal@hart11: not trying to convert you...everyone is entitled to have different views on what great music is. However, U2 is trying to find ways to get exposed more through present-day media. Back then, it was MTV and VH1 (which are crap now)....so what we have now are new avenues. Pretty soon, other bands will soon use this....and if you have a band of your own, I'm pretty sure, you'd like to stream your concerts live too. Think about it, it would cost less, yet almost everyone on this planet can see it. If you read my profile, I've probably worked some shows of your favorite bands.POSTED: 10/20/2009 - 10:00 pm / quote |

: Muse are one of my favorite bands, but kinda disappointed when they opened up for U2. Don't get me wrong, Muse played great, but their mix was not that great. The vocals kept on being drowned out, and the low mids were a little muddy...but still a great band though. Also, a lot of Muse fans, that came just to see Muse, were converted to U2 fans...they didn't know what hit them! Hope to see/work with both bands again.POSTED: 10/20/2009 - 10:33 pm / quote |

I hope that this is a joke. | Why? Black Eyed Peas are amazingly catchy, as is U2. Heck, I wouldn't mind seeing that show. Although it might be a little too "happy" for me :pPOSTED: 10/21/2009 - 01:40 am / quote |

If you're in a bar/garage band right now, I wouldn't be surprised if your band starts using this method (streaming live). All thanks to U2 and You Tube. Btw, if you ever get out of the bar/garage thing and onto the next level (headlining), I might just as well do one of your shows. I've probably done a couple of your faves....and I know they'll follow U2's footsteps of live streaming....I guess you're gonna hate them too!POSTED: 10/22/2009 - 12:07 am / quote |
