Weezer have recorded a cover of Radiohead's "Paranoid Android" - scroll down and click below to see a clip of the band performing the track in the studio.
The band played the cover live for the first time at a gig at Atlantic City's Borgata Events Center on Friday (May 27).
However, they have now posted the clip online for anyone who missed the performance.
Rivers Cuomo and co recently released another cover, this time of The Cars' 1984 song "You Might Think".
The song appears on the soundtrack for the new Cars 2 movie alongside contributions from Robbie Williams and Brad Paisley.
Cuomo also provided guest vocals on "Can't Keep My Hands Off You", a recent single by Simple Plan which is due to feature on the pop-punkers' fourth album.
Weezer return to the UK in July to play Sonisphere Festival and a one-off show at London's O2 Academy Brixton on July 6.
I want to rip those glasses off of their faces and shove them up their a**. Stupid wanna be hipsters. Aren't they like 50? Good version of this song BTW.
I'm really surprised at the positive feedback for this cover. I personally thought it was terrible. I know it's a cover, but the solo was pretty weak and not very frantic. But it's mostly Rivers' singing style I probably don't like.

Agreed. They didnt really do anything with it, they essentially played the original with worse vocals, and changed a few words just t make it different.
Except the solo obviously. I don't mind the solo too much, but it could've been way better.

The vocals do nothing to capture the eerie demented mood of the song. The rest of it isn't bad, but only because the original is amazing and they just stuck to that.
It's pretty good. Not good enough to be a straight cover though, the vocals needed to be stronger, as difficult as that is for such a song. If they'd done something different with the song and kept the vocals like this then it'd have been great.

yeah, hipsters, that's why they colaborate and cover indie, obscure songs from unknown bands...
*roll eyes*

It was going fine until he opened his mouth
The vocals don't suit the song at all, maybe if they'd actually re-worked it or made it a bit closer to their own style rather than doing pretty much a straight cover with an awful solo and then trying to awkwardly put the vocals on top.
One of my favorite songs of all time... not as good as the original, it was definitely lacking the twitchy desperation that makes it iconic, but they really put a lot of effort into it and I think it turned out pretty great! Solid thumbs up to Weezer.
It´s actually a good cover, although River's vocals sucks. Atleast while doing this. I don´t really mind him in general.
Agree with you , Music it's ok , but the voice sucks. I like Weezer and i LOVE Radiohead and Rivers voice just can't fit into this song and he need to learn the lyrics.
Looks like the guitarist didn't feel like learning the solos. Oh well.
I'm not incredibly familiar with the solos, buy from what I remember he stayed pretty loyal to them.

Obscure? This song had probably the most played music video on MTV between 1995-2000. Unknown? Radiohead is probably one of the most well-known active rock groups who aren't constantly on the radio. You fail, sir.
Also, I don't know about the others, but Rivers Cuomo and their (former?) drummer were wearing them long before the term 'hipster glasses' even existed.

WTF? Weezer's real drummer now plays lead guitar???
That's John Freese... but I didn't know that their old drummer was their new shitty guitar player until I saw this video... I was wondering why they needed John Freese.
Lame cover, by the way... too much lack of feeling while being too true to the original makes it weak.

I hope you didn't mean this song or You Might Think by The Cars. These songs are not obscure and these bands are definitely not unknown.

What is the point of covering a song if you're just going to COPY it. Sure, if you're a garage band, its no biggy. But an established band like Weezer with their own sound should cover songs, not copy them.
YEAHHHHH!!!!! =w=!!!!!
I thought it was a pretty decent cover, saw this the other day the one of two times a year i check the site (hoping they would come to AZ) and saw this, not bad. Not bad indeed.
This actually wasn't too bad, but it's too similar to Radiohead's, and when put side by side, Radiohead definitely wins. Still, this was pretty good, and it takes guts to cover a Radiohead song.
I want to rip those glasses off of their faces and shove them up their a**. Stupid wanna be hipsters. Aren't they like 50? Good version of this song BTW.
...They've been wearing those glasses since they started ..you know, because they can't see without them. :\
And the cover? Meh. Dreadful. They didn't do anything unique with it, and Rivers' voice does NOT suit the song at all.
Or maybe your sarcasm just sucks as bad as your grammar.
Nah seems like you just fail at sarcasm. Everyone else got it.
No, I got it the first time. I was just being a dick, because his sarcasm sucks. While they might cover songs that are fairly popular, Weezer, and Radiohead, are pretty hipster-ish... and their fans are even more so.
And his sarcasm and grammar still suck harder than Rivers Cuomo's vocal performance on this song.
It´s actually a good cover, although River's vocals sucks. Atleast while doing this. I don´t really mind him in general.

Ditto. Love both bands to death but Rivers' voice doesn't suit the song. Good effort though, better than no cover at all.
It's funny because 95% of you people will never experience being in a band that successfully plays a cover as tough as this one
It's not about that. It's about the fact that they picked to cover this song when the singers voice is not good for it. The music is fine and the singer even hits all of the notes, but his voice just sounds so bad for this song. It was a bad song for them to choose to cover, IMO.
And honestly, vocals aside, it's not that hard of a song at all.
I...didn't enjoy it. I've never been a Weezer fan, but the vocals are just...off. Hit the wrong notes and such.
I'm going to go listen to the original now.
No emotional value whatsoever. Honestly, ever since Pinkerton this band seems to lack emotion. No offense to hardcore fans, but its true. All the songs sound like they have the same emotion in them.
The music was pretty good...although they pretty much just played the original to a T. RIvers' vocals can't touch Thom Yorke's. The vocals ruined it for me. The solo wasn't great, either.
That's John Freese... but I didn't know that their old drummer was their new shitty guitar player until I saw this video... I was wondering why they needed John Freese.
JOSH Freese. The old drummer still plays some drums live, but he plays guitar because Rivers wanted "to be active and more free on stage and him having guitar on was an impediment."
Except they basically founded the 90's style Emo...which is what that is...you idiot...
Except that everything in that sentence is basically wrong...you idiot...
The manner of dress, not the musical style. They were made the poster boys for it.
For nerd-rock, sure. Not what people call "emo". Real emo has been dead since the early 90s, before Weezer even formed. The new "emo" image is more with the tight pants and swings in their hair, as well as make up usually. Weezer doesn't really fit the description of a newer "emo" band. Post-hardcore stuff like Thursday is what inspired the new look of "emo".

So, a band records a cover and it makes UG's news? wat is this i dont even...
Agreed. This is inane. They don't need a new lessons editor, they need a new articles editor.
On another note, the cover was awful. I'm happy to listen to a Radiohead cover, as fervently as I believe that no one can come close to them, but this one is just awful.
Gotta agree with the majority here, this cover was not that great. Music-wise, they pretty much nailed it. The singer's voice did not suit this song at all and there was zero creativity here. Just an outright cover.
why do people comment negatively on anything on the internet? this cover was clearly for people who like both weezer and radiohead. not for people who hate hipsters. if you hate hipsters, how do you even know what paranoid android is?

That's what I was saying, they were referred to as real Emo back in the early 90's, Pinkerton being their last album in that style.

Successfully isn't quite the adjective I'd use... This cover sucks, the vocals are off, the guitar is bad, the cover brings absolutely nothing... If a band wants to have fun with another song on stage or something that's great, but taking studio time for this?
Dear Daddy,
I write you in spite of years of silence.
You've cleaned up, found Jesus,
things are good or so I hear.
This bottle of Steven's
awakens ancient feelings.
Like father, stepfather, the son is drowning in the flood

You can be a Radiohead fan and immensely detest hipsters, you know.
