Weezer Streaming New Album Online

A week before releasing Hurley, Weezer are streaming their entire new album online. Fans of the pop-rock band can hear the record on Weezer’s MySpace site.

Hurley is a bit of a landmark for Rivers Cuomo and company. After leaving Geffen Records (following 16 years with the label), the band signed with punk indie label Epitaph.

If the bouncy, pop-punk single "Memories" is any indication, the album will return Weezer to the rawer, power pop sound of their early music.

Of course, Weezer will be celebrating their early albums this fall, when they play all of their 1994 debut album (or "The Blue Album") and 1996’s Pinkerton in concert. However, no official dates have been announced yet.

You know, I'm really digging these frequent album releases. I've been a Weezer fan since I was 11, but the last album I liked in its entirety was Make Believe. The Red Album definitely had some good ones, but I wasn't crazy about every track. Raditude is the same way for me. I will be giving this one a listen..

I found it a bit dissapointing, but hopefully they will at least bring the tour over to the UK for this album.

Best post-pinkerton album. Definitely helps make up for the disappointment that was raditude

It's much better than Ratitude. It's not like old Weezer, though, but we'll never have that again, they've changed, but that's not a bad thing. All bands change over time. This is good music.

Listening to it right now. I also like Weezer releasing albums every year or so. Just if every band was like that but it's unrealistic to think that way for bands that are actually good.

This is by far Weezer's worst album ever. The last few albums were like bad Weezer covers bands, this is album is like a bad Weezer cover band doing bad faux indie covers. Rivers Cuomo is obviously trying to hard to be alternative and make people think he hasn't change. Half the songs are about him trying to get laid despite the fact that he was a celibate and then he got married. He's not writing from his heart and the result is an aging rocker looking like a fool.

I think some people are too stuck in their traditionalist ways. I will say this, this is not Blue or Pinkerton, but this is a pretty good album. A whole heck of a lot better than Ratitude with guest vocals from Lil Wayne, that's for sure....

However, every Weezer album seems to be good at something; pulling new fans in and keeping the old fans just close enough so that they hope the next album will be more like Blue or w/e they liked best. Bands that don't change don't get new fans for the most part and fade fairly quickly.

I think the new album is awesome, especially when held up against Raditude and Make Believe!! To the people who always complain about Weezer's new material and want them to make more stuff like Blue and Pinkerton, in my opinion, if they kept making every album have the same sound, then people would only be complaining again that they don't do anything new.

The thing that pains me the most is that their old b-sides through Maladroit were better than the L.P.s that they've been putting out for the last 5 years.

Yeah the lyrical content is really lame and doesnt feel natural.

However as far as the sound goes, i think this album is pretty good considering Red was okay and Rad sucked.

Also, their album covers are getting worse and worse imo.

The Blue album and Pinkerton were the best Weezer albums. DUH.

Every single album after that has gotten progressively worse and worse... until now.

Hurley isn't great, but it isn't totally horrible either. It's a definite improvement over recent albums like Raditude or Make Believe (ugh). Obviously its not the Blue album, but as another person said, if you want the Blue album, take it from your CD rack, open the case up, and pop it into your CD player.

Yes, because Slayer and Iron Maiden have faded REAL quick. I haven't listened to this album yet but it's sounding better than Raditude by the comments, lol.

I think you missed my point; Slayer and Maiden have a fan base that may gain new fans every so often, but for the most part they appeal to the same type of person. Where as a band that changes a lot has the advantage of appealing to many different demographics.
