Two previously unreleased songs by The White Stripes have made their way online more than five months after the rock duo split.
The songs "Signed DC" and "I've Been Loving You Too Long", which you can hear in the players below, are both covers. The first is from 1966 and the band Love, and the second from Otis Reading in 1965.
They were originally printed on Jack White's Third Man Recordings on a limited 7" record for "platinum" subscribers to the label.
At the time of the split, the band did say they would be offering more unreleased live and studio recordings. And it's not likely they will be offended by the online leak of these two tracks.
"The White Stripes do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore", said the statement detailing their split. "The White Stripes belong to you now and you can do with it whatever you want."
In other news from Jack's personal record label, we reported yesterday that he would be releasing a hip-hop record he co-produced and performed on from rapper Black Milk.
Cool. Really cool. It's like the whole Jimi Hendrix thing, except probably with not as many songs. I love the White Stripes and will follow Jack around in his pursuits for a long time.
I love the white stripes because they always remind me that overly simple music will never go out of style lol. Whenever i run out of ideas during the middle of a jam, i can ALWAYS bust out white stripes/black keys type riffs and not even have to think about it. And have it sound amazing as well!
This is the kind of sound that got me hooked on the White Stripes in the first place. This is what they stood for. Drums, guitar, and voice. No fancy, convoluted stuff like on their later albums. You don't really hear music like this anymore.
Anyone that likes this should check out their debut album.

Although i liked all of their albums, the debut album is indeed the most underrated. Icky thump was kind of iffy but the bonus track Baby Brother sounds like old WS and in my opinion the best track on there period.

With all due respect to both your opinions, I think that Icky Thump, while not their best record, was definitely a good effort and wasn't really convoluted. Icky Thump and Get Behind Me Satan are more so explorations and come off as an allotted collection of sketches sort of. However, this is just my honest opinion. These two songs sound great and Jack and Meg's work is just as strong post-humously as it was when they were around playing together.
Icky Thump was great! Jack is such a great musician and quite frankly I loved the fact Icky Thump explored a larger musical landscape whilst still holding true to the White Stripes sound and feeling. I think all of their music is great, first album to last. The White Stripes could do no wrong because everything they did was honest, and that's what was important in the end. Although they explored different sounds, they never tried to be anything else other than two people playing the music they loved.
