Yngwie Malmsteen Covers Michael Jackson's 'Beat It'

Legendary Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen will release a new album called "High Impact" on December 8 (one day earlier internationally). The set is described as "a mind-boggling, high-paced compilation record" featuring a "surprise" bonus track — Yngwie's never-before-released interpretation of the Michael Jackson mega-hit classic "Beat It", which contains Malmsteen's own magical touch and ex-Judas Priest/Iced Earth frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens on vocals.

"High Impact" track listing:

01. Caprici Di Dablo
02. Brothers
03. Blitzkrieg
04. Trilogy Suite
05. Red House
06. Finale
07. Magic City
08. Arpeggios From Hell
09. Far Beyond The Sun
10. Cantabile
11. Blue
12. Overture 1622
13. Fugue
14. Beat It (Michael Jackson cover)

An audio sample of Yngwie's cover of "Beat It" is available for streaming at the guitarist's MySpace page.

Rising Force Records has begun releasing rare archival concert footage that many Malmsteen collectors will want to have. The first is Yngwie in Korea, which was madea available on October 13, 2009. This is the raw footage that was shot by the Korean media, and it features no bells and whistles.

Malmsteen in March released an all-instrumental acoustic album, "Angels Of Love", which contains rearrangements of his ballad songs played on acoustic guitar and string and choir arrangements only. It is a masterpiece showing the tender, delicate version of his classic songs as well as a new composition. Yngwie also released two DVDs via Rising Force Records in March — "Live Animal" and "Live In Budokan".

"Perpetual Flame", the latest full-length studio album from Malmsteen, was the first-ever Yngwie effort to be issued via Rising Force Records, It marked the debut of Malmsteen's new singer, Tim "Ripper" Owens.

Thanks for the report to Blabbermouth.net.

When will Tim escape the evil clutches? Perpetual Flame sucked, as does this cover of "Beat It." Tim deserves so much better

not impressed at all with Beat It. Does Yngwie know what moderation is?

Perpetual Flame sucked?!? Lofl. Must be a Jonas brothers fan. Have you even LISTENED to the album? Damnation Game, Priest of the Unholy, Live to Fight, and Red Devil are AMAZING songs.

One of the WORST covers I've ever heard.

I dislike Micheal's music but id rather listen to the original with him singing than that shit cover.

Wow, I couldn't stand that cover. Until the vocals came in, I couldn't even tell that it was Beat It.

Yngwie is one of the best guitarists out there, but my god that was a sh*tty cover. He really can't resist breaking into an absolute shred wank fest at the drop of a hat. I honestly couldn't tell that was "Beat It" until Owens started singing.

Who the hell still likes this stuff? Holy smokes move on the 80s were a LONG time ago. Stop pining for your stupid high school days your sweetheart dumped you and you work in an office now get used to it.

Ol' Yngwie should toke on a spliff, relax a little and slow that shit down. As much talent as he has, a little inspiration would go a long way. I wonder if he can play with feeling?

No I didn't listen to the album. I sent psychic messages to my martian friends who have the knowledge of all music, past, present, and future.

Of course I listened to the album you bloody idiot, that's how I know it sucked. Yngwie either needs to stick to the instrumentals, or he needs to get Jeff Scott Soto/Mark Boals back. Tim can keep working with Beyond Fear, or his solo stuff. Just keep them apart.

Wo... really this album is a recopilation of god songs, plus a cover i don't like so much... but i hope Yngwie gain adepts.. cos want you or not, he is a real guitar master... I wish some day he return with Boals to create the Trilogy II really... that was the best album ever!!! and Alchemy almost gets that size!!!

That MJ cover was beyond bearable. His acoustic stuffs pretty good though.
