Alien Ant Farm Return With New Album

Neither a deadly tour bus crash that nearly paralyzed its lead singer or the vagaries of the music business can stop one of the most popular and critically acclaimed alt-metal bands of the decade. The story of perseverance that is Alien Ant Farm continues with the platinum-selling group’s much-anticipated third major label album, Up In The Attic (New Door/UMe), set for release on July 18, 2006.

We’ve been through so much, both triumph and defeat,” says singer-songwriter Dryden Mitchell. “But it’s been cool that we’ve kept our fans. I’d do this forever. We’re having fun.

The hard rockin’ yet melodic, thunderous yet introspective Up In The Attic was produced by Jim Wirt (Live, L.A. Guns, Incubus and AAF’s 1999 indie released Greatest Hits) and mixed by Jay Baumgardner (who has previously produced Papa Roach, Coal Chamber, Seether and AAF’s 2001 major label debut ANThology). The first track to radio will be the Baumgardner-produced “Forgive & Forget,” going to Modern Rock in early June. Alien Ant Farm will tour later this year and beyond in support of the album.

BUSted, the band’s first-ever DVD, will also be released on the same day. While showcasing numerous concert performances and all 10 of the band’s music videos (including five never-before-released), BUSted takes a wildly amusing, outrageously revealing behind-the-scenes look at the group on the road with its friends.

Alien Ant Farm broke through with ANThology, released on NoCal pal Papa Roach’s New Noize imprint on DreamWorks Records. The track “Smooth Criminal” soared to #1 Modern Rock and Top 25 Pop, sending the album to #11 on the Pop chart. The disc has scanned nearly 2,000,000 copies and is currently certified platinum. During the ensuing tour, the band suffered a tragic bus crash while in Spain. Nevertheless, AAF boldly returned to the studio and to the stage the following year. 2003’s truANT, produced by Dean and Robert DeLeo, best known as the guitarist and bassist for Stone Temple Pilots, cracked the Top 25 and its “Glow” hit #1 on charts outside the U.S. despite the imminent folding of its record label. Since that album’s release, AAF has toured the U.S., Europe and elsewhere with the likes of Linkin Park, Metallica, 311, and Papa Roach, sold over 3.5 million records worldwide and are back with a brand new album.
