Alter Bridge Rolls A Lucky #13 |

Universal Republic Artists Alter Bridge prove it ain’t a bad thing to be good and lucky, joining an elite group of artists on Billboard’s Top 15 Album Chart this week by locking down the lucky #13 slot with their high flying debut album Blackbird.
The soaring foursome’s much buzzed about opening is even more eye-popping when you consider they edged out legendary rockers like Eric Clapton and gritty icons Puddle Of Mud. Alter Bridge is celebrating the hearty welcome from rock fans in reciprocal fashion – bringing their searing brand of hard rock live to concertgoers across the U.S. on one of the fall’s most talked about tours. The former Creed members – Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips, and Brian Marshall, joined by riveting vocalist Myles Kennedy – round out Alter Bridge and are winning over critics with the same power and bombast that enlivens the songs from their sophomore album Blackbird.
“One of the greatest things to happen to hard rock since David Lee Roth joined Van Halen” raved Metal Edge. Joined by fellow Universal Republic rockers Another Animal, (comprised of members of Godsmack), the tour (which runs though December) has become one of the most eagerly tracked rock two-lanes on the internet, igniting rock networking sites with set-list chatter and after-show critiques from fans of the two rock bands that have set myspace sites aglow.
For Alter Bridge, Blackbird is an imposing follow-up to their Gold-plus album debut One Day Remains. Advancing the themes of that critically acclaimed effort, but with an even more ominous edge, the album has become a mainstay of modern rock charts and digital platforms, and includes fan-favorites such as their #1 most-added kick-off single “ Rise Today,” “ Break Me Down,” and “ Ties That Bind,” among others.

10/26 - San Antonio, TX, Sunken Gardens Amphitheater
10/27 - Corpus Christi, TX, Concrete Street Amphitheater

That's because it is The only song I thought was completely unnecessary was the "Watch Over You" I just thought, compared to the rest of the album, it was out of place. It's a good track though.POSTED: 10/25/2007 - 12:53 pm / quote |

There are several people plotting my demise right now I can feel it...
Well Tremonti's name ends in an I...which joins him the eltie of Italian Martian guitarists...Satriani, Vai, Iommi, Petrucci...maybe not as good as them, but I'd die happy with half the guys chops. POSTED: 10/25/2007 - 01:25 pm / quote |

: Come to CANADA!!!! I haven't been this stoked over a NEW album, by a NEW band.. ever. This album has that hard rock/metal edge to it, without losing that melodic touch. Myles and Tremonti were born to play together. Fucking brilliance.POSTED: 10/25/2007 - 02:09 pm / quote |

Heaviside
: This is an isanely good album, I like it better than "One Day Remains", its the same style as the first just more mature and it rocks a lot harder. I think the reason that the article says that it is their debut is because "Blackbird" is their first record with the Universal Republic label, thus it's the debut on that label. Their first record came out on Wind Up records.POSTED: 10/25/2007 - 02:44 pm / quote |

and i know its been said before a billion times but its true; alter bridge has really given tremonti a chance to shine as a guitarist. good stuff!POSTED: 10/25/2007 - 10:28 pm / quote |

well, i think that Creed and Alter Bridge are hardly complimentable to each other. Creed was more based on vocal ability with Scott Stapp's oversized ego. Alter Bridge on the other hand focuses more on the musical side of things with myles himself being a respectable guitar player... All in all though, Blackbird is a great album with only one flaw to it, the lyrics are kind of hollow, which to me as a musician isnt a horrible thing but is a very neccesary objective for the message. On the last album Tremonti wrote pretty much everything and now Myles is writing and, frankly, he is not near as talented. But i digress, i would def. suggest picking this album up... maybe we can push it to like number 9 or somethingPOSTED: 10/25/2007 - 10:49 pm / quote |

: Blackbird is the best CD I've bought in years. I bought the last Trivium CD and it kicked ass but I got bored with it after a month went by. But this CD has so many good solos and guitar riffs that I'm still not one bit bored with it yet. I was a Creed fan back in the day and I can see how much Tremonti has improved over the years. POSTED: 10/26/2007 - 06:01 am / quote |
Pat244
: I would chose Tremonti over Petrucci and Satriani any day cause Tremonti's solos has so much more feelings to it. I don't give a shit how fast you can play or how good you can play; if you can't play the guitar with heart and soul then you're not a great guitarist in my book. When Petrucci plays it sounds like he's trying to teach me some scales but in a fast way. My top favorite guitarsit are Tremonti, Hammett, and Dimebag Darrell. They all play with so much feeling and attitude!POSTED: 10/26/2007 - 06:06 am / quote |

i just saw them at the Electric Factory...and i agree Another Animal is kinda mediocre...but the drummer for Another Animal made their set awesome for me....he was F'in mental
alter bridge was awesome no doubt about that....POSTED: 10/26/2007 - 10:51 am / quote |

: The majority of Petrucci's work is basically shred riffs, but he can and does chill out and play with feeling that alot of guys would kill for, bud. Look up his Glasgow Kiss performance from the G3 in Tokyo DVD on youtube. The solo section is phenomenal. POSTED: 10/26/2007 - 02:20 pm / quote |

Um... no there not. Alter Bridge owns Creed. anyway, just wanna say that I think that 'Broken Wing' and 'In loving Memory' are probably AB's best songs (theyre from the One Day Remains), but Blackbird is the better CD. By a large margin.POSTED: 11/18/2007 - 07:58 pm / quote |
