Jet, the Australian rockers, have released their highly anticipated third studio album Shaka Rock today, August 25th, on their newly created Real Horrorshow Records/Five Seven Music with distribution and services through EMI Label Services.
In the midst of a whirlwind promotional tour ahead of their third studio album Shaka Rock and lead single "She’s A Genius," Jet are playing shows in the US, UK, Europe, Japan and Australia to set up the record which is out tomorrow in the US. The band have completed two trips around the world in support of the release and will travel to the United States today for national television appearances including The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
"
We have been going non-stop to bring this album to our fans," says
Jet’s
Chris Cester. "
It’s just so good to be out on the road playing our new music. We rock harder on this album then we ever have before and we just want as many people to hear it a possible. We’ll let the audience be our critics."
The single, "She’s A Genius," is lighting up at radio across the globe. It is in the Top 20 at multiple rock formats in the US, Top 5 at Active Rock in Canada and Top 10 at Alternative, Top 5 on the Japanese International Airplay chart, and vaulted to #12 on the overall Australian airplay chart this week. And now, the single has been tapped for a sexy new television ad for "Body By Victoria" featuring top super models Marisa Miller, Alessandra Ambrosio, Emanuela de Paula and Lindsay Ellingson. The tongue in cheek song lends itself perfectly to the fun and sexy themes of one of the world’s hottest brands.
After four million albums sold worldwide and four Top Ten Modern Rock and Rock hits, the authentic Aussie rockers have returned to form with an album that parallels their smash, Get Born, which produced hits like "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" and the #1 "Cold Hard Bitch." The new album closes the gap between the raw roots of Get Born and the grace and melody of Shine On which together went on to make Jet an international band of style and substance.
The album is highlighted by tracks like the first single, "She’s A Genius," a lighthearted take on the band’s appreciation of women. "Black Hearts (On Fire)" touches on the fascination with greed and power. "Start The Show" is one of the band’s heaviest rock songs to date. "K.I.A" has the drama of film, in a three-minute song. The album is full of rich and deep stories like "Goodbye Hollywood" of which Chris Cester says, "I like to think of it as our kiss-off to our past personally, and it really sums up the forward thinking...go-go, don't think twice attitude that we had making this album."
