Jimmy Buffett: 'Take The Weather With You' Details

Multi-platinum singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett releases his newest album, Take The Weather With You, on Mailboat Records/RCA Nashville on October 10. Take The Weather With You is the follow-up to his first #1 debut album (on both the Top 200 and Country Charts), License To Chill, which featured duets with some of country's biggest stars including Alan Jackson, George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride and others. Buffett makes another foray into the arena of country music on Take The Weather With You but combines a variety of styles and sounds throughout the album from Nashville, New Orleans and Key West.

After recording more than forty records, the two-time Grammy nominated singer/songwriter returns again to his country foundation with breezy ballads, interpretations of alt-country songs, a version of Merle Haggard's "Silver Wings" and mariachi horns in "Cinco De Mayo In Memphis."

"Without realizing it, I went to my roots on this record," explains Buffett. "It's not a stretch for me to do country music."

The album also includes the current single, "Bama Breeze," a tribute to the historic bars along the Gulf Coast as well as a take on Mary Gauthier's "Wheel Inside The Wheel" with swampy rhythms crafted by Lafayette, Louisiana slide guitarist Sonny Landreth. Deeply affected by Hurricane Katrina, Buffett takes a philosophical look at the devastation of New Orleans in the ballad "Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On," which he wrote with former drummer Matt Betton.

Throughout the recording of this album, Buffett brought together an excellent array of talented musicians such as the English rock band Gomez, on Neil and Tim Finn's (Crowded House) title track. Original Coral Reefer steel guitarist Doyle Grisham complements the enchanting sounds of Robert Greenidge (master steel drummer from Trinidad) as well as world-renowned percussionist Ralph MacDonald. Hawaiian ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro also appears on several songs.
