The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum’s annual "American Music Masters" series celebrates an artist whose career has had a significant influence on rock and roll. This year we honored Les Paul, a name that will forever be connected to the electric guitar.
On Saturday, November 15, a sold out tribute concert took place in Cleveland at PlayhouseSquare’s State Theater featuring Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees James Burton, Duane Eddy, Billy Gibbons and the Ventures along with Jennifer Batten, Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, Eric Carmen, Dennis Coffey, Lenny Kaye, Steve Lukather, Barbara Lynn, Lonnie Mack, Katy Moffatt, Alannah Myles, Richie Sambora and Slash.
Terry Stewart, president and CEO of the Rock Hall presented Les with the 2008 American Music Master award. Then, Les and his trio performed and everyone came out for an all-star jam session salute to Les in celebration of his legacy.

: Wow! Congratulations to all the new inductees! These are the All-Stars of Rock n' Roll, and in no way would it be complete without the addition of the legendary Lester 'Les Paul' Polfuss and he-who-made-the-aforementioned-his-trademark Saul 'Slash' Hudson. These, along with the other new inductees, are absolutely quintessential to the history, preservation, and reverence of rock and roll. Again, congratulations, and I'm proud that such a ceremony graced my lifetime. Just wish I was there.POSTED: 11/18/2008 - 04:42 pm / quote |
