“Pick your favorite record of 2006 - if you’d give that five stars, this would get six.” So says the February issue of Alternative Press magazine in their “10 Essential Albums of 2006” selected by AP’s editors. The disc they’re talking about is Moneen’s The Red Tree, their second full-length disc for Vagrant released in April 2006.
The Red Tree was given 5 out of 5 stars in Alternative Press upon its release and Kerrang magazine demanded that “
Moneen are a band that need to be heard right now.”
Moneen spent most of 2006 touring the U.S., Canada, and Europe and their passionate, dynamic live shows made them a “
must see” on this past summer’s Vans Warped Tour.
The band is going to be back to the States again in just a few weeks. Moneen’s freshly announced headlining tour begins in Bakersfield, CA on March 1st. The band is bringing along Pistolita and Damiera and will be selling their newest release at the shows - the dual-disc EP, Saying Something You Have Already Said Before: A Quieter Side of Moneen. The band created a limited pressing of the EP, which consists of a 5 song EP, a bonus DVD of live concert footage, and original album art. The EP can also be purchased at either the Moneen or Vagrant web stores.
The band - Kenny Bridges (vocals/guitar), Chris “Hippy” Hughes (vocals/guitar), Peter Krpan (drums), and Erik Hughes (bass) - is home in Brampton, Ontario preparing for a nationwide tour of Canada with Billy Talent and will visit the UK in April for a co-headlining run of dates with Bayside.
