Today it was announced that the Plain White T’s garnered their first-ever Grammy nod in the categories of Song Of The Year and Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for “Hey There Delilah,” a song that grabbed the much-coveted No. 1 slot in the U.S. on Billboard ‘s “Hot 100” chart as well as the No. 1 slot internationally on Billboard’s Euro Singles Sales chart (the song hit #1 in 9 countries) making it one of the biggest songs in the world. As reported in Entertainment Weekly, the band’s smash hit “Hey There Delilah” has racked up 2.35 million digital downloads. Additionally, there have been 21.5 million views of the official “Hey There Delilah” video on YouTube, 1.1 million plays of new single “Our Time Now” on MySpace and a gold record for CD Every Second Counts. Add it all up and you get two very deserving Grammy nominations for this pop-savvy Chicago quintet.

It’s funny but before I even started writing “Hey There Delilah,” I joked with Delilah that the song I wrote for her would be the song that made the band successful and that she'd be my date for the Grammys... In other news, The T’s just released a brand new video for “Our Time Now” (you can view the video at here) which is drawing major ink for re-imagining scenes from the 1967 classic film, The Graduate. In addition, they just wrapped arena dates with Fall Out Boy and Gym Class Heroes and are gearing up for a major European tour. They will also ring in the new year with a performance on The 36th Annual Edition of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve airing December 31st on ABC (10 PM ET & PT)
