The track comes from the Whitby, Ontario quintet’s sophomore Vagrant release, Fortress, which will be in stores January 29, 2008. Metromix predicts Protest The Hero will be “Blowin’ Up in 08” and said: “Is prog the new punk? Thanks to recent top 10 successes from forward-thinking groups like Every Time I Die, Avenged Sevenfold, Coheed & Cambria and Chiodos, it might be. PTH expand on the sound with “Fortress,” melding a ten-song, three movement piece on (no joke) the concept of goddess worship with a whiplash-inducing thrash assault.”
Fortress also just received 4 out of 5 stars from Alternative Press Magazine: “…what makes Fortress much more than just a chain mail-clad sweep-picking clinic is the band’s ability to weave bold melodies into the album’s thundering riffage, hinting at a growing musical maturity that could propel them to dizzying creative heights by the time PTH’s age matches their dexterity.“
Protest The Hero previously announced a major North American tour in 2008. The band will be on the road for a solid two months, with U.S. dates alongside Silverstein, A Day To Remember, and The Devil Wears Prada, beginning February 20th in Syracuse, NY and currently wrapping March 30th in Pittsburgh, PA. See all dates below.
