Rob Zombie To Write & Direct H2

artist: rob zombie date: 12/24/2008 category: press releases
rating: 0 / votes: 0

2009 is the year of Zombie as Rob Zombie steps forward to write and direct H2, sequel his box office hit Halloween in 2007.

Once again, Rob Zombie has been tapped to write and direct “H2,” the sequel to Zombie's 2007 reinvention of the horror classic “Halloween.” Malek Akkad of Trancas International Films, who also produced 2007's Halloween with Dimension, will produce the sequel, along with Andy Gould of Spectacle Entertainment Group, Zombie’s long time manager and producing partner. The announcement was made by Bob Weinstein, Co-Chairman of The Weinstein Company.

Dimension's “Halloween” scored the highest Labor Day weekend opening ever with a record-breaking $30.6 million in its first four days of release and went on to gross nearly $60 million at the domestic box office in 2007.

Zombie’s “H2” will pick up at the exact moment the first movie stopped and follow the aftermath of Michael Myers murderous rampage through the eyes of heroine Laurie Strode.

H2” will be Zombie’s fifth written and directed feature. Prior to the success of Halloween, Zombie released the critically-acclaimed film “The Devil’s Rejects” (2005), the follow-up to his cult classic “House Of 1000 Corpses” (2004). Zombie just wrapped production on his animated feature film “The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto” due to be released in 2009. Zombie, also an accomplished recording artist, has sold over fifteen million albums worldwide, making him one of Geffen Records’ top selling and longest running artists.

Bob Weinstein stated: "Following the success of 2007’s 'Halloween,’ we are thrilled to be back in business with Rob Zombie, bringing a sequel to theatres. The fans have made it clear - and we agree - that they feel the franchise is in great hands with Rob Zombie."

"I am very excited to be working with Bob Weinstein again and returning to the world of 'Halloween,’" states Zombie. "The remake laid the groundwork, now it’s time to really take Michael Myers to the next level. I believe we’ve just barely scratched the surface of where we can take this series."

In the music arena, Zombie has been nominated for a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance for Lords of Salem off the Educated Horses album [Geffen Records]. 2009 also brings a new studio album, still un-titled and the White Zombie box set [UMe Records] is out now. Zombie also finished his long time project “The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto” a full length cartoon feature whose release date is soon to be announced.

How did the last one end, he got shot in the head didn't he? and there's a sequel, talk about continuity errors

No, the new line of films is going to be exactly the same as the last ones - filled with continuity errors and plotholes, like michael's hair turning black when he was blonde as a kid in the first film. Making a remake of the original film was alright i guess but it shouldn't pave the way for a whole backline of an outdated, though legendary, film series

I dont think it was that his hair was black, it was just ratty and never got washed, so it was dirty.

Aaaaanyway, I'm looking forward to this.

House of a Thousand Corpses and The Devil's Rejects were good, but his Halloween remake was terrible. I think I'll stay away from this... but I hope he releases a new album soon.

there was this one scene in zombie's halloween when he is sitting getting interviewed by his therapist and micheal has one of his home made masks on, and he's just staring at the old man and he looks like the face of evil for just that one second. zombie's halloween rocked.

also DEVILS REJECTS IS AWESOME. best zombie film so far.

Other than from people who were already Rob Zombie fans, all I've heard from people about the 2007 remake is that it was awful. That's regular people and professional film critics.

i personally thought that the new film was kinda a disapointment, i mean the orginals brilliance kame from the simplicity of it all, and after you add in evrything that went on in the new one, it just kinda took away from the terror and suspense

Tumble-weed wrote on 12/24/2008 - 02:16 pm / quote |
No. Just no. The remake was terrible. We don't need another mess of a movie from Zombie (Although I've been wanting to see Devil's Rejects for a while. I hated House of 1000 Corpses though.)

You're a dumbass. When I was a kid, my hair was blonde and it gradually got darker.

Same with all the males on my dad's side of the family, you puds.

You do realize how much of an idiot you just portrayed yourself as, right? The original movie was much better, and we don't want to see Rob Zombie ruin another horror classic.

I think the remake was pretty good because it was different enough from the original. House of 1,000 Corpses sucked, Devil's Rejects was awsome. I'll give H2 a shot. I can't wait for the new album coming out VERY soon. ZOMBIE ROCKS!!!

I like Rob Zombie's music, but I hated his Halloween. And although horror movies are supposed to be perfect for dates, it was definitely a terrible movie to take a first date to.

If you remember, he crawled out of that mineshaft in part 4 before everyone bombed it. He's is not a zombie, and he's never suffered any grave injuries.

Not only that, Jason didn't die until Part 4 in 1984. Unlike Jason, and what people seem to forget, Michael Myers is human. That's why this sequel (to a remake!) is already such a bad idea, because you can't really explain away a bullet in his head, and if Zombie's getting into the territory of Michael Myers as a zombie, I'll officially give up on his movies.

Never suffered Grave injuries...? Well then, I suppose six slugs from a .357, falling out of a window hard enough to leave an imprint on the ground, a coat hanger to the eye, a bullet to the other eye, major electrocution, and being filled with multiple bullets before falling into a mine shaft are all just minor flesh wounds...

Also, no, Myers is not human. John Carpenter himself says that Myers isn't human. He, instead, is pure evil, which will never die.

Also, once again, no one needs to explain away a bullet to the head, in the original Halloween 2, as mentioned before, he took a bullet to the eye, and didn't even fall down.

The TL;DR version: I agree with most of your points, but when it comes to Myers, you should probably do a little bit more research.
