This is great, their last album Diorama is my favourite album of all time. It is sad that due to Daniel Johns' illness they could not give it the proper promotion back in 2003. It is supprising that the single has picked up, but very deserving.

Diorama was an awesome album. It's bizarre they're giving it airplay now though, after they just released the next album, but then Iguess it's probably more 'Radio friendly' whatever that means.

Looking forward to seeing them back in the U.S. in 08. I wanted to see them in Chicago but it sold out way faster than I thought it would. One of the best bands musically I've ever heard.

'Young Modern' is my favorite album of 2007.
I can't believe it myself but it's true!

Tommorow is the only song I like by them everything since that has pretty much gone downhill sadly :/ (IMO)

Whats funny is Alantic records kept harrasing them that Diorama had no singles on it. Certainly the egg must be on their face.

I agree Young Modern was the best record of 2007, but thats not to say everything else was bad. This year has been a great year for music IMO

Being an aussie, ive gotten to watch a few silverchair concerts, but i really dont like any of silverchairs new stuff, they were rockers, now they are more pop then anything, sucks!

they've sold out, plain and simple. Diorama was the last album they did anything good, as they were still writign decent post-grunge stuff. Now they're just another crappy pop band, and Straight Lines is an atrocious song.

Silverchair are one of the worst bands I've ever seen live. Take a You Am I or Beasts of Bourbon show over them any day.

Hahaha, Daniel Johns admitted himself that he wanted to make a record people could dance to, that's not selling out, that's a challenge, hell if you had the chance as well, would you keep bringing out the same shit all the time? No, that's the best thing about Silverchair, every record has been different, it's had a different vibe, I have to say the only two records that were similar are Neon Ballroom and Diorama, songs like Emotion Sickness, Ana's Song and The Greatest view all tie well together and could easily have been on the same album.

They haven't sold out, he's done the thing that lots of people who get really good do and "branched out" so if you EVER get to that stage, good on you, but until then shut your mouth, you don't konw jack shit

People complain when a band keeps producing the same sounding records and they complain when they try something new. You can't satisfy everybody.

Silverchair are awesome live. Best album would be Neon Ballroom.

just because they changed their sound doesnt mean it all went downhil. that's what GREAT bands do, they mature and experiment. bands that sound the same are the ones on the next ride downhill.

Mr Montana :
Can't say much for what they think of their new stuff though, if they are bringing out old songs as singles/

I mean fair go as said they couldn't properly promote it but nonetheless?

The Straight Lines remix is great, and I don't think silverchair is a very easy band to remix so good job to the Presets. I don't want to imagine a world where Diorama and Young Modern don't exist, I listen to them every day. Daniel is a damn genius everything he does is brilliant. I love it all.

if only they would go back to frogstomp/freakshow era.

israels_son :
If anyone has seen them live recently, or even actually listened to Young Modern, you would see they still rock pretty damn hard. Freak Show was their worst album and I'm glad they don't play much old stuff.

They have never made a single album in the same style and thats one of the things i love about them. I mean, if you call changing your sonic identity every album making it difficult for a mainstream audience to keep up selling out, then you certainly have an odd idea of what selling out is.
