You’re asking yourself, “How can five whole songs be called a preview?” That’s because there’s 14 new tracks in all, making The Black & White Album an extra-long playing opus featuring all the band’s signature fine-tuned frenzy. Take “Tick Tick Boom.” It’s an anthem for tense times, the Hives juggling riffs like hand grenades so we don’t have to. Or, maybe the finger-snapping cool of “Well All Right!” is more your thing, a glimpse into the Hives philosophy of a strict no-worry policy, punctuated by a “woo hoo!” that says it all.
