Following on from their surprise and headline stealing appearance at Australia's Splendour In The Grass festival at the weekend, Heavenly/EMI are delighted to announce the live return of the Vines. The Australian band will come back to the UK for their first appearances here since 2004. Singer Craig Nicholls has continued to make big strides forward with his treatment for Asperger's Syndrome and feels ready to play live again in small doses.
The band played two shows last week - one unannounced under the name of
Joe Dirt at Sydney's Annandale hotel, the second in front of 8,000 ecstatic people at the Splendour Festival in Byron Bay. Both shows featuring new bassist - Brad Heald - were such a success that Nicholls felt the next natural step was to bring the band back here for some select shows.
The Vines are confirmed for the Reading NME/Radio1 stage on Friday 25th August and Leeds on the Saturday 26th. It sees the Vines returning to the site of their best UK festival appearance, a blistering performance given back in 2002 that justified why they had created such excitement with their debut album 'Highly Evolved'. Either side of the festival are two shows at Nottingham's Rescue Rooms and London's Forum. Special guests are the hotly tipped Dundee outfit The View.
Third and acclaimed current album, 'Vision Valley' shows Nicholls in very good form. Quality songs throughout including the new single 'Don't Listen To The Radio' which is released through Heavenly/EMI on Sept 25th.
