In light of Third Eye Blind's new album Ursa Major being posted online in a haphazard and somewhat lazy fashion, Megaforce Records are streaming the "correct" album and mix and proper presentation in all its glory for you to hear on Myspace.com.
We are also trying to keep ahead and bumping the street date a day early to August 17. All those fine retailers who have such great deals on the album will continue to do so.
"
Wow! I leave the country and my album ends up leaking. I was in Jakarta performing for the fine citizens of Indonesia after their devastating terrorist attack - I can't speak more highly of the country. I am asking for all those downloaders who illegally downloaded our new album, please donate some money to your local charity," says
Third Eye Blind singer
Stephan Jenkins.
"And to those leakers who posted the wrong album, well, shame on you for being lazy. You guys know the lyrics and presentation are important to us. Rock on!"
Label spokesperson Missi Callazzo comments:
"You know, if hackers/leakers think they are hurting 'the man' by leaking and posting albums on the internet, well... the artist is really the one who gets hurt. Third Eye Blind owns their album, has their own imprint through us (an indie company with music fans) and control pretty much everything and make the majority of the money. I really can't fathom why anyone would want to harm an artist? The artist brings so much to our life. Art is such a special experience and the artists deserve much more respect."
Multi-platinum Third Eye Blind's Ursa Major was six years in the making. Its companion piece Ursa Minor will be released at a later date. The band is known for its emotionally-charged and controversial lyrics, which has engendered a re-awakening of youth culture and some of the most obsessive fans. Hit songs include "Semi-Charmed Life," "Jumper," "Never Let You Go" and many more.
