Daisy Rock Girl Guitars Prouldly Welcomes Dee Dee Of The Dum Dum Girls

Daisy Rock Girl Guitars proudly welcomes indie pop darling, Dee Dee of the Dum Dum Girls, as the latest addition to their artist roster. Influenced by bands such The Ronettes, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Jesus and Mary Chain, and Mazzy Star, as well as drawing inspiration from a wide range of female artists, the Dum Dum girls have carved their hard-earned and rightful place on the indie music scene.

Dee Dee’s first musical endeavor was acting as the drummer and singer for the three-piece Grand Ole Party. When she decided to start a solo project in 2008, she chose the name Dum Dum Girls, deriving the name both from The Vaselines' album Dum Dum and from the Iggy Pop song "Dum Dum Boys." Over the course of the next year, Dee Dee released a couple of critically acclaimed singles, and due to the high level of buzz, she signed a deal with Sub Pop Records. It was during that season when Dum Dum Girls expanded to become a four-piece band.

Dum Dum Girls’ debut album, I Will Be, was released in 2010 and was well received by critics. Music webzine Pitchfork described the songs in the album as "genuine earworms, both unfailingly hip and often wonderfully associative." Dee Dee produced the record with Richard Gottehre who had previously worked with Blondie and The Raveonettes and also co-wrote the songs "My Boyfriend’s Back" and "I Want Candy." The band then went on tour to support Vampire Weekend, culminating with three nights in New York at the Radio City Music Hall.

In 2011, they released the He Gets Me High EP which included a cover of "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths. A second full-length album, Only In Dreams, followed on September 27, 2011 which sparked their network debut on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

"I’m for real," comments Dee Dee about the latest Only in Dreams album. "We all are. I’m really passionate about this—it’s all I know. And maybe we’ve just grown up a bit—or grown out a bit. There’s some weight to what we do, and a pure intent, and I think that comes across on this album."

"Do you know what it was like the first time you heard The Ramones? Do you remember the first time you saw the really hot chick, with the awesome red lipstick, and the cool nylons, with awesome black eyeliner and she was in a hot leather jacket, jumping on the back of a motorcycle with a James Dean look alike guy? That’s Dee Dee from the Dum Dum Girls and if you’re not part of her party, join it now! I want to be Dee Dee, I want to be in her band and I want her nylons, her lipstick and her dress! But thank God, she plays a Daisy Rock guitar because that makes us just as cool by association. She’s the IT girl in the IT band and the she plays the IT guitar, Daisy Rock!!!! Love you girls!" said Tish Ciravolo, President and Founder of Daisy Rock Girl Guitars.
