Punk changed the world, then split like an atom into thousands of sub-genres in every corner of the planet.
Some people who were there at the start stuck to their morals and never sold out, others applied their drive to the world of big business, and some even became pop stars.
But at heart, they're still punks. And whether the music sounded good, or was performed well, it has a fire and spark that no other genre can really compete with. It is the sound of youth, after all - and who wouldn't connect with that on some level?
That's why this weeks' question is:
What are the best punk songs of all time?
It's up to you what definition of "punk" to use. You might stick to traditional British acts like the Sex Pistols or the Clash, or dip into the American repertoire of punk acts, from Black Flag to NoFX. As long as your nominated songs are full of punk spirit, energy and a teenage "F--k you" attitude, you're probably onto a winner.
Post one nomination per comment, and upvote songs that you agree with. We'll stack up the results for a headbanging playlist this Friday. Good luck!
