AC/DC Complete Recording New Album

AC/DC Complete Recording New Album

AC/DC has finished recording its new album and is currently mixing the effort for a late 2008 release, the group's vocalist Brian Johnson revealed yesterday morning (Tuesday, April 22) during an interview with Washigton D.C.'s DC 101 radio station.

Johnson has apparently left the studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada where AC/DC guitarists Angus and Malcolm Young have remained with producers Mike Fraser and Brendan O'Brien in order to complete work on the CD.

Brian also stated that the band will next work on getting the artwork done and take care of the promotional activities in connection with the release, to be followed by a tour.

According to Reuters, the new album will be AC/DC's first for Sony BMG's Epic Records label, which reissued the band's back catalog a few years ago.

O'Brien is also known for his work with The Offspring, Rage Against The Machine, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Audioslave and Velvet Revolver, among others.

VH1 Classic host Eddie Trunk recently revealed on his New York radio show that AC/DC was rumored to be planning a "farewell" tour for later in the year.

In other news, "Totally Baked", a "stoner comedy" on which Brian Johnson is listed as an executive producer, debuted on DVD yesterday, April 22. Johnson also wrote three new songs for the movie's soundtrack.

Thanks for the report to Blabbermouth.net.

Didn't these guys hang it up a decade ago? Who cares if they did. It just goes to show that retirement isn't for those who have spent a big part of their lives on a stage. One can never give that up once it gets into their veins. Kiss and Aerosmith have also done several farewell tours. They didn't walk away then, and they won't walk away now. Let's all be thankful that they are still doing what they do best. Life without AC/DC would be a lot less brighter.

how about this for an idea: bands should stop doing farewell tours and just tour until they die. then the last completed tour can be posthumously labeled the farewell tour.

oh and about the story, this is the way to make an album. not take 10 years to record it and refine it. you record and release within a year. AC/DC are the best.

Black Sabbath recorded their debut in like 6 hours...and their follow up "Paranoid" in like 2 days...

Led Zeppelin I & II both came out in '69...Led Zeppelin III came out in '70 and IV came out in '71...

From '76 to '81, AC/DC released at least 1 album a year..that includes Back in Black which was released less that a year after Bon's death...

I do not understand why nowadays it takes about 4 to 5 years to record and release an album...i mean, if you're an underground band and have to tour out the ass then thats cool, but if you're Metallica then wtf?

i totally agree with you, dude. it would be so much better if bands just released new material every year, instead of EVERYONE heading out on gargantuant world tours 2 and 3 times between albums. plus, CANT WAIT FOR NEW ALBUM

The reason it's taken metallica so long to make the Cd is that Lars keeps going to the media and talking about nothing!!!

But it's cool AC/DC are coming back out, I'll have to see how this compares with their old suff.
