AC/DC: New Album Coming In January?

According to a posting on the AC/DC fan site AC/DC Highway to Hell, it is rumored that AC/DC have completed editing video footage for a brand new double DVD set to be released September, which will contain one Bon Scott DVD and one Brian Johnson DVD of AC/DC live in concert. The band has also supposedly completed a new album which is scheduled for release January 2008, with a world tour to follow.

Back in December 2006, Albert Music boss Fifa Riccobono shot down reports that AC/DC had a new record titled "Strap It On" coming in 2007.

"I ran that past Mal (Young) some time ago and he said it was the first he'd heard of it, so I guess the answer no," she told Undercover News. "Also, there definitely is no release date scheduled as the album hasn't been recorded yet."

AC/DC leaders Malcolm and Angus Young have been writing material for a few years. In early 2005, singer Brian Johnson told Launch there was a lot of stuff to work with. "I think, and I might be speaking out of turn, but I think they're doing a double, with the amount of songs I've been over a couple of times with the boys and added ideas on 46 tunes we had, and they've been working since then!" he said.

Thanks for the report to Blabbermouth.net.

Why exactly do they need to make another album? Just make a CD of one song off Back In Black over and over and burn it to a CD. It'll sound exactly the same, and be cheaper.

Yeah. I occasionally hear a couple Bs :P

AC/DC are without a doubt the most ROCK band there is. Even if they are simple. Even if they are repetetive. You can't help but wanna headbang and yell your head off with them. It's music that just penetrates to your very insides.

Woah, I feel a fanboy writing this. I'm wearing an AC/DC shirt, playing an SG, listening to AC/DC, posting a comment about AC/DC...Jeez...

the ac/dc method: why use machine guns when you've got atom bombs, yes they are the same chords, but that doesn't mean its bad music, its blues influenced its not gonna be complex. music is energy, I've heard complex songs that sounded like shit because they had no energy to them, but ad/dc has managed to keep the energy in those same chords for 30 years.

I can't wait till they come through Dallas, so I can be there when they cart Angus of stage in a stretcher for emergency hip replacement surgery.

(wikipedia)
AC/DC have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, including more than 68 million albums in the U.S. Back in Black has sold 42 million units worldwide, including 21 million in the U.S., making it the second-highest-selling album ever internationally, and the biggest-selling album by any band. The band are ranked fourth on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.

Read that and do NOT say that AC/DC are no good because that info above me sums it up that AC/DC rock and always will hands down.

Also, i agree with jimicrakcrn.

Megadeth? Ha. Notice the similarities:

Metallica - Megadeth ( m - m)
(metallicas debut release) Kill 'em All - (megadeths debut release) Killing is my business...and business is good! ( Kill - Kill )
Ride the lighting - Peace sells but whos buying( Ing - Ing)
call of ktulu - start of hangar 18

do i see a pattern happening here???

I'm so not interested anymore. AC/DC wrote some classic songs, but they've sounded the same for 30-odd years. I think they should just continue to be as amazing as possible live and tour (dunno how much of that they're doing?), and focus on live material or such. I agree with someone way above, who said a double album would most likely be dull as hell.

TheNthDimension wrote on 05/09/2007 - 03:04 am / quote |
They may not be any good anymore, I don't know - but I do want to see what they do. Hopefully it will be good, if so I WILL go see them...

Don't forget dudes that AC/DC never gave a f**k about what other people think. They just play their music damn it, good 'ol rock 'n' roll. If you don't like AC/DC, why the hell are you posting a comment on an AC/DC review ?

RockDragon wrote on 05/09/2007 - 08:12 am / quote |
So AC/DC songs are simple. I'd much rather listen to Walk All Over You, Touch Too Much, Back In Black, Whole Lotta Rosie, any AC/DC song in fact than some balls like Trivium or Machine Head.

'AC/DC music is cheesey' - They've been tongue in cheek since day one. The cheeky 'nudge nudge, wink wink' attitude (especially in the Bon Scott era) is all part of their appeal. AC/DC are a band that you can have a laugh and a joke with, yet still rock the hell out while listening to them.

I'm not the biggest fan of the Brain Johnson stuff, save the Back In Black album and a couple of other tracks (e.g. Thunderstruck) but I'm looking forward to this album anyways. Hopefully they'll go back to being pure raw rock and roll (I felt their sound had a slight glam edge recently - very slight mind, but still a recognisable difference from earlier DC.)
The new album isn't going to be a double. UG posted the story where Brain said that, then posted one a couple of days later with him retracting that comment. The guy was merely joking about how much material they've got to work with. Apparentlythe label were panicking 'double album, where's this coem from?' lol.

And in all fairness - the album could be crap. I'll still be going to see them, because they'll still play the crowd favourites and it will be a hell of a show, even if they're all drinking prune juice onstage :P.

Lastly (rant's nearly over, promise) why the hell are people arguing about Megadeth and Metallica on an AC/DC post? Sweet Jesus. They both have their appeal, personally, I prefer Megadeth but good god, stay on topic ffs.

to me AC/DC rocked, rocks and will rock, they have the best live shows, the best rock 'n roll songs (cut the crap about all songs being similar, to me every one has it's own different touch, it's just their style). I'll by the album for certain (knowing that I only by albums from Nirvana and AC/DC, the rest I just download

Finally, cannot wait! AC/DC! Their new album is gonna be great and huge! I'm definately buying their album on their first day it is released.
Call me a loser or moron, but I wanna also see their new album hit #1 on the Billboard Charts, why? I don't know (just like For Those About To Rock), but hopefully it changes the way rock is being played and viewed!
Hey AC/DC, if you're reading this... COME TO BAKERSFIELD, CA!!! We need HIGH VOLTAGE!!!
By the way I thought Ballbreaker and Stiff Upper Lip were great albums too! And hey I like St. Anger!

Sleez Boy wrote on 05/09/2007 - 06:53 pm / quote |
Hey Kikuta!

Hell no! I think if Ozzy, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Slayer, and Metallica should continue, if they still want to play and make new albums.

Who do you expect to keep playing rock in the coming years? Fall Out Boy? The Used? MCR? All American Rejects? Hell no!

Can't wait for AC/DC new album! RIP Bon Scott!

I can't wait for the new album! I think it will kick ass!! No doubt about it. Yeah this maybe there last gig or maybe not...either way I won't miss it for the world. So tell me how can the world's greatest band suck, as some of you so eloquently put it yet still manage to gain legions of fans year after year? I can't get enough of their music, I never get tired of hearing them on the radio. I may not be a musician, but a few of my friends are,and the first band they introduced to me was AC/DC,and I haven't looked back since! Hell when they are not on the radio I have one of the cd's cranked my car and I'm rocking along with them! Life doesn't get much better than that! When they tour I'll be at their show bangin' my head and pounding my fist in the air!!

Too all you AC/DC bashers, Ill tell ya. Most of you are probably 20years &younger & dont know shit about Rock n Roll. Those boys have nothin to prove ! Theyve already proved it time & time again!!! Bon was an icon may he RIP. But Brian has gave his heart & soul to that band for the better part of 27years. so back off! Angus knows those scales up & down & riffs like no one & Malcom , Cliff , & Phil Rock like they have a purpose everytime! Bottom line!!! AC/DC plays Rock n Roll theyway it was ment to be played! & THEY ALWAYS DELIVER! So I say.....LET THERE BE ROCK ! & GOD BLESS THE FIVE OF THEM FOR IT! Get it on boys & make it happen! Again. There integrity has & always will stand the test of time.

A True Rocker:

I am 17 and could not agree with you more. Half the kids my age dont know sh** for music. I was turned on to AC/DC music when I was 13 and have come to be a hardcore fan. It just baffles me as to what my peers see in modern rock. So-called "rock fans" who dislike AC/DC dont know good rock when it whacks them in the balls! It's hard to explain what AC/DC does that sets them apart, but I have a hard time ever finding anything else that compares. As others have said, yes they are simple, but what's wrong with that? I'd rather know I'm gonna get what I like than hear some weird experimental crap. If it aint broke, dont fix it. Above all, I challenge someone to come up with a band with a more badass tone. Modern rock tone just doesn't do it for me. Too harsh, distorted, and artificial. Just give me that glistening growl of a cranked EL-34, and I will enter my nirvana.

Look forward to the album, and will do anything to make it to that show. Could be the chance of a lifetime to see them live (for somebody my age)

Lets be optimistic and let AC/DC do what they have always done well.

To all the haters: COEXIST Ever hear that word? We'll listen to our sh**, you listen to yours.

Peace out, and Long Live AC/DC!

I am 32 now and started listening to ACDC when Who Made Who was released. I was 12yrs old at the time and I needed to find some good shit to listen to. I heard this album once and was hooked instantly. I see ACDC are copping plenty of shit re their repetitiveness and limited amount of chords, which I cant argue against because there is truth in that. What does bug me is people saying that EVERY song sounds the same. Again, there is an element of truth in that when you compare the mainstream hits that are played and repeated on the radio such as Thunderstruck, Back in Black, Highway to Hell, Dirty Deeds, Who made Who, Are you Ready, For those about to Rock, The Jack, TNT, Hells bells, Heatseeker etc etc. Go right back to High Voltage and onwards and listen to the songs that AREN'T mainstream hits ie shes got balls, rock n roll singer, little lover, Riff Raff, Go Down, Aint no Fun, Rock in Peace, Theres gonna be some Rocking, Walk all over you, Rock n roll damnation, Sin City, Hell aint a bad place to be, Get it hot, Overdose, Touch too much, Down payment blues, Problem child, Jailbreak, giving the dog a bone, let me put my love into you, shoot to thrill, this means war, etc etc. Thats the real ACDC. Went to the Razors edge concert in 91 in Auckland and it is still one of the best ive ever seen, amongst other concerts like GnR, Metallica, System of a down, Rage against the machine for example. Would not hesitate and move heaven and earth to see them live again. Amazing stage show along with a good mix of new and old tracks. Still have a Moneytalks Dollar Bill lying around somewhere too lol. Bring it on lads and I hope its not just rumours.
