Aerosmith To Enter Studio Soon

artist: aerosmith date: 01/06/2009 category: upcoming releases
rating: 0 / votes: 0

Drummer Joey Kramer of legendary Boston hard rockers Aerosmith has issued the following update:

"Today is the first day Tom [Hamilton; bass] and I are getting back together. We just rehearsed for two hours and it feels so good! We can't wait to get back into the studio and get back out on the road to do what we do best. We'll check in from time to time and give you progress on how things are going."

Aerosmith is currently working on material for its 15th studio album the band's first new collection of original material since 2001's "Just Push Play". The group will play its first-ever show in Caracas, Venezuela on February 1 as part of the three-day Solid Fest. Also scheduled to appear are 50 Cent and Simple Plan, among others.

Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford told LiveDaily on October 19, 2008 that the band will likely hit the road in the U.S. in the spring, although he wasn't sure whether they would have new music to play while they're out there. Speaking after his appearance at a Connecticut stop of the Experience Hendrix tour, Whitford said, "We've been offered to go out and do a tour next year starting in March, I guess. Providing the sky doesn't fall, that's what we'll be doing." As for whether a new album will be finished in time for the trek, Whitford admitted, "Typical Aerosmith: everybody's off in their own little world and I'm not sure we're going to get it done before we go out, which is unfortunate, because it would be nice to have some new music to play."

Thanks for the report to Blabbermouth.net.

Some of their newer stuff is good, just in a completely different way.

Sweet. Aerosmith are amazing.

Aerosmith are boring, all their music sounds the same and as a band they have no personality or flare whatsoever.

So what? Lots of good bands have music that songs that sound the same as their other songs.

Like who? Doing the same song over and over is just pointless and bores me to tears.

Come on, are you saying that "Dream On" and "Ragdoll" sound the same? Just because some of their songs sound similar, doesn't mean their a bad band.

It's good to have variation in music... I don't i'm not That big a fan of Aerosmith...

I'd love to see Aerosmith go back to playing two hour shows. It's not that much to ask for $150 a ticket.

I also hope the rest of the band pushes Steven Tyler into doing some songs live that haven't seen the light of day in a while, or ever (COMBINATION!).

Either way, a tour is good news, and a new album on top of it (if they ever actually release it) is even better.

I'm not saying variation isn't good, all I'm trying to say is that the way they sound is like their signature. Changing the sound can change people's view towards a band.

Playing it safe like that is boring, as is their style of music. They have no personality and nothing to offer. Even their "good songs" like walk this way aren't good.

Music-madness wrote on 01/06/2009 - 01:12 pm / quote |
You call it playing it safe if you want, but look at Mettalica's new album. A lot of the songs on that sucked because they tried to go with something a little new. ACDC is another example. Black Ice wasn't that great either. Sticking with what you're good at is the best thing you can do.

Music-madness wrote on 01/06/2009 - 01:31 pm / quote |
Well, you can have your opinion about them, but that doesn't mean that you're right. Other fans like myself will tell you otherwise.

Walk This Way was just voted the number seven (i think it was seven) hard rock song of all time on VH1. Granted, its VH1,but still. Plus,i read that Aerosmith has become the highest-selling American hard rock of all time. More so than Nirvana,Jimi,Metallica,etc...

Im a big Aerosmith fan,im pumped about this, and they are just one of the more important bands in rock history (although not as much as anymore)

Music-madness wrote on 01/06/2009 - 01:55 pm / quote |
Damn strait! I don't understand how people can think that they have no personality. These guys have been around for god knows how decades and they're one of the most energetic bands i can think of!

Hell yeah - Aerosmith has gotta be one of the most unique bands out there and they've got a great sound. They've also got a lot of different sounding songs rather than stuff like Disturbed which uses the same basic chords and riffs every song.

I disagree. As a live band, I think they got much better with age.

Studio-wise and in songwriting, Aerosmith jumped the shark back in the 80's with Janie. But hell yeah, they improved much better in live performance. I think they oughta release a new Live DVD or CD rather than some studiowork

apparently someone hasnt listened to their old albums... THroughout the 70's they were the american equivalent of led zeppelin, playing hard blues rock. then the drugs got to them, and they managed to make a comeback in the 80's, and sold out so steven tyler could sing some pop songs . both of their musical styles are good, in to very different ways. THey are immensily energetic on stage from what I've seen from live videos, and I know for a fact that axl rose ripped off almost all of his stage moves (besides for the snake dance) from steven tyler. Guns N' Roses as well as many other bands cite them as their primary influence. So I don't see how they suck at all. This is great news.

What, are you drunk or something? Black Ice is pure AC/DC. It doesn't sound that different. The only two songs where they really try something new are Rock 'n Roll Dream and Stormy May Day. And those are great songs as well. I'm not a big AC/DC fan, but I love Black Ice...

Sorry for the OT, folks!

I'm not too excited about Aerosmith releasing a new album though. They're a good band, but their prime has passed.

If you liked ACDC's new album, power to you man. But, me personally, was not too fond of it. It just feels like they lost the flair they had years ago.
