Against Me! Beginning Work On Next Album

Against Me!'s Tom Gabel has announced the beginning of work on the band's next full length, and first since leaving Sire exactly one year ago.

It will be the first on the band's own Total Treble Music and first with drummer Jay Weinberg.

Gabel noted:

"Would like to thank everyone who was a part of making this Europe tour possible. Had an amazing time. We're gonna go make a new album now."

The record is expected to be recorded in the band's new studio, which Gabel and his family built beginning in September. The studio was used to record the latest album from Cheap Girls.

They last released the "Russian Spies" [7-inch] in 2011 and "Total Clarity" and "White Crosses" in 2010.

How did Against Me! ever sell out? Tell me that. I'm so sick of people going on about how Against Me!, a band started when Gabel was 17/18, is now selling out because they play different sounding music at the age of 30. Tom is married, he's a father, he works, and he writes music. He's not going to write about anarchy forever, and people like you are too damn lazy to find real meaning in songs unless they're blunt and to the point.

White Crosses is a pro choice song. Maybe if you weren't too worried about who is selling out and more focused on the music, you would see that kind of meaning in songs.

I like this band a lot. Its like taking a break from all the heavy distortion and really listen to words in a song. It doesn't have to always have to make sense just be able to relate to the singer's experiences. I know this next album will be good. Tom is a good acoustic guitarist also.
