Alice Cooper To Guest On Slash's Solo Album |
| artist: slash |

category: upcoming releases |

Legendary rocker Alice Cooper has confirmed to Australia's Undercover News that he will guest on the forthcoming solo album from Velvet Revolver/ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash.
"I just finished writing a couple of songs for Slash's new album that is going to be coming out," Alice tells Undercover News. "He is working with a bunch of lead singers. It is sort of a nice idea of Slash and Alice, Slash and Iggy, Slash and Meat Loaf or whoever is going to be on it. It is a great idea."
Alice previously sang on the Guns N' Roses song " The Garden" from the " Use Your Illusion". Slash guest-starred on the track " Vengeance Is Mine" from Alice's last CD, " Along Came A Spider".
Slash tracked his solo record with former Nine Inch Nails drummer Josh Freese and ex-Jane's Addiction bassist Chris Chaney. Other confirmed guest singers so far include Ozzy Osbourne and Avenged Sevenfold's M. Shadows. The CD was produced by Eric Valentine (Good Charlotte, Queens Of The Stone Age) and features additional appearances by ex-Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea. Freese told MusicRadar.com that Iggy Pop, Fergie (a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson) of the Black Eyed Peas and Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave) will also appear on the LP. Working songtitles include "We're All Gonna Die", "These Last Words", "Crucify The Dead" and "Beautiful, Dangerous".
Slash left Guns N' Roses in the mid-'90s, forming Slash's Snakepit before later assembling Velvet Revolver with several other ex-members of Guns N' Roses and Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland (who was dismissed in April 2008).
Thanks to Blabbermouth.net for the news.

Excuse you? Slash has written some of the more memorable solos and guitar riffs of all time. Raw talent doesn't mean shit if you can't write a riff. Might as well say BB King "never had it in the first place." Or Brian May "never had it in the first place."POSTED: 08/24/2009 - 12:38 pm / quote |

I was under the distinct impression that it was of everybody's well-informed opinion that Slash was amazing, is amazing and will, until the end of life, rock, the universe and everything, continue to be amazing, and not just because he was with some sweet bands, not because his name was on an @$$-ton of music and he made a load of money, and not because he may or may not have sold a redoodilously high number of records, but because he's hardcore, melodic, musically creative, and caresses the guitar neck in such a way so as to create a plethora of soundwave-ical deliciousness that we may, as hard-rocking subjects, lap up from the bowel of exaltation that Slash has so graciously presented before us, so that we may further our understanding of what it is to be Man, and inch ever-closer the realization of human harmonic connection.

You are retarded, those people that you mentioned may have speed but not even close to the feeling and melodic sensibility that Slash has. You also don't realise that record sales do count for something as he influences everyone of them. The reason his playing is considered cliche is because of his style and iconic image which causes him to be emulated by millions of guitarists. Also the fact that you can learn to play his music doesn't mean shit. I'm sure in all his years of playing and experience he could play much faster and cleaner than you. Anyone can learn his music but no one (especially not you) could have written some of his works.

: Slash kicked ****ing ass before Guitar Hero 3 and he kicks ass after it theres just no doubt that the guy is hugely talented, the music he writes doesn't require lightning speed but an intense melodic ability, i personally get much more out of the feel and groove of his sleazy, balls to the wall blues style than i get from playing blisteringly fast, i find that songs like that are often empty and tedious. Plus Izzy and Steven Adler are playing on some songs along with Ozzy, Alice,Flea and Ronnie wood so it should be pretty epic.
ps i only mention GH3 because some people are under the impression that it made him a sell out or undeservedly overrated thats not my opinion but there are some out there that would argue....each to his own i guess POSTED: 08/25/2009 - 04:04 am / quote |
